Huge Car Auction Tomorrow in Colorado!
By Jen Dunnaway

Very often, car auctions are really about conspicuous consumption. I mean, it’s rich people vying with each other over who gets to pay more for something, right? And you know how the wealthy love to wave a hand toward some well-preserved hulk sitting in their garage and say to their waspy friends, "oh, it’s just a little something I picked up at auction," usually accompanied by a roll of the eyes and a sigh about how they paid altogether too much for it… but well, they were simply in love.
Not so with the VanDerBrink Auction in Delta, Colorado tomorrow. Their event tomorrow really seems like it’s going to be more of a liquidation than an auction. 900 cars! Most of them rusty and cheap! Drag ‘em home! Now that’s more like my kind of scene—one guy at the Moparts forum said he went to this auction one year and ended up buying three cars for 50 bucks each. Check out the listings here and pics of some of the cars here. It’s actually a good thing I don’t live in Colorado or I’d be likely to get myself in some serious trouble tomorrow. Are any of you planning to attend? If you end up hauling home your next project, we’d love to hear about it!

This year, NASCAR made the decision to switch over to the COT full time. The COT (now dubbed the car of today) runs in all Sprint Cup races. The teams are learning more and more about the car as each week goes by. Team owners have invested a lot of money to ensure their crew chiefs and their maintenance department have all of the tools and equipment necessary to maintain the cars to the top standards their drivers have come to expect.

Gas prices are still on the rise, but some say flying can actually be fuel efficient, if you have the right plane. But a local group called “Fuelventure” says their homeade planes get more miles per gallon than some of the most fuel efficient cars.

note the minimum bid in the fine print.
“$350 which is reflective of current iron prices.”
Even so, some really good deals to be had at that auction. I wish I still lived in Colo.

If I had the cash I’d buy atleast 4 cars in there. Alot of them look to be in decent shape too so It won’t be too bad restoring them or hot rodding them

I can’t stop paging thru. I remember when some of these models were new (the “newer” ones). some look like they’re in decent shape, like the Belvedere.
