What Did You Do This Weekend?
By Jen Dunnaway

I took a junk-cation, packing up my Escort with John and a bunch of tools and heading up north to my new favorite yard, Pick A Part in Chilliwack, BC. We spent the whole weekend at the yard—my sister and her boyfriend joined us on Saturday—gutting this Escort wagon from the seatbelts to the headliner for a full interior swap on my diesel, and stripping various body, trim and engine parts from both this car and the Eagles. Meanwhile, the staff provided free bottled ice water to their customers on what felt like the two hottest days of the summer, and John even looks like he might finally be getting hooked up with some crash-repair panels for his Jag thanks to the Pick’s ultra-resourceful Shantel. More Pick A Part pics after the jump!
How about you? What did you do this weekend?

I was out at a local fair this weekend and saw one of the silliest things in my life. A tractor pull only with riding lawn mowers. Some fo the guys looked like they invested quite a bit of money in their machines. It was kinda funny watching these little mowers pulling a full size sled.

Well, I bashed the new page editing features, Installed black projector headlights and fogs on the Firebird, as well as smoked corners in the front. I also installed a set of double-halo projector headlights on the Grand Prix and highly recommend them to all 97-03 Prix owners. The price dropped for them, no longer 450ish, I spent 270 and it was a bargain. Gonna go out and snap a shot with my cellphone in a few minutes and update the prix page.

Anyway, sorry CD staff but the new features have some serious bugs and shortcomings. I learned to double-click on images to add them. Double-clicking in browser content is not intuitive to most, it’s a single-click or drag ‘n drop environment. dragging ‘n dropping pulled in the 50 x 50 thumbnail, something nobody ever wants to do. It makes no sense. Other things like the appearance of fonts in the text editor (gotta guess, they don’t show in there as far as I can tell). Arranging pictures also took a major step back because again, the editing window’s view can differ greatly from the saved page.

I wish for a junk yard like that near me…This weekend. I drove. I honked the horn to a person I haven’t seen in years. Now gray haired. My cars year, is the year we were in high school. Goosebumps for my own reason…reward for car enthusiasts happen in many simple ways. so very satisfying.

Installed more polished stainless steel hardware in the engine bay of the RoadMonster and participated in the Buick NW Regionals Show on Sunday…
.
Did pretty good, as the only class the RM fit into was “1965 – 2008 Modified Buick”…
.
Took 3rd Place.
.
My friend Ed won 1st Place in the same category with his gorgeous bagged ‘65 Rivi.
.
The Buick Club of America doesn’t really like modified Buicks, so there are only two modified categories, and they are dead last on the event sheets, and they park us the furthest out.
.
Man, my RM is the Red Headed Step Child, even at all Buick events…
.
And, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
.
It was kinda fun, in a perverted way, to piss off the Buick purists who did not like my engine…
.
.
I’ll be back next year (again) just to be a thorn in their sides

I had a front end mishap. My centerlink got separated from the idler arm and my car refused to make right turns. Had to make a car show so we hose-clamped the stripped castle nut back in position. I made it on time too!
Oh yeah, I bought more gas.
