LOL... Ebay... "DOT" approved, black projector beam headlights to replace 6X4 sealed-beam. In my case Firebird pop-ups.
-
The H4 bulbs they maintain are compatible with the Firebird are anything but. No matter how you wire them, switching to high beam makes the PS headlight bright... and the DS one dim. Also, being black the light housings emit precious little light.
-
They look very cool though and I don't want to part with them SO I have some killer bright fogs I just installed that easily take up the slack, but aim them so oncoming drivers aren't blinded.
-
When inspection time comes, I just pop out the projectors and pop in the sealed beams, as well as swap the smoked corners.
-
Moral of the story: Don't assume that DOT or other standards have actually been met with stuff from 3rd party MFGRS. They just want to move their products and those standards apparently aren't enforced or may not even be enforceable.

Just last friday I was delivered a brake booster with the same leak as my 11 year old one had! So now I'm stuck without a car for almost a week, since the new piece might get here until wednesday.
