Updates to the New Ride Page Editor
By Ryan Porter
Incompetent Fool
As many of you know, we made some big changes to the ride pages last week. We won’t lie, there are some bugs we need to tease out, and we want everyone to know we are working on it. With that said, let’s talk about the big changes from last week’s update. Continue reading…
First off, we increased the large image size. This image used to be as large as 575 pixels wide but is now up to 1024 pixels wide. This allows everyone to see greater detail when expanding images from user ride pages.

Next, we now allow you to add bought and sold dates to the vehicles in your garage.

Finally, the code behind the ride page editor now allows users to input HTML and control the fonts, font sizes, and font colors. With this change came some alignment issues. We recognize that this feature has been the most problematic for our users, as the alignments buttons don’t seem to play nicely with the images. We will address this issue in the next launch, targeted for tomorrow, and we think you will be pleased with the upcoming changes and resulting features. This change will also allow us to update our editing platform more frequently, and add in some of the other features that you have requested.

Stay tuned for more updates as they become available!

RE: Corey
I would agree that working with images is not as simple as just double clicking and you are done. To be honest I prefer to use the HTML area as it allows me the complete control I am looking for. As for the image insert button you mention from groups, I don’t see this in the groups editor. The only two buttons that differ between the groups editor and the ride page editor is the save and preview button which we do not display on the ride page editor. Either way I wanted to say thanks for the good feedback and we will work towards creating the best experience we can while getting additional new features out to everyone.

I would like to help you out but I’m not quite sure what issues you are running in to. Can you please PM me with better details so I can help you out.

Some great new features, BUT Working with images is a challenge… period! In “Groups” editor, it has an image button, but there is only a link button here. I don’t know if it was an oversight. I Don’t like the double-click idea for inserting images, because there’s no way to edit the image settings (Click to open?, linked image, displayed image, tag). Maybe the image tool from the group page editor could be imported into the ride page editor code?

It fails even at work…
My pics wont go! when I click, it says “tiny_mce_marker” where the pic should be. WTF is this shit? When I update the page, it resets to the previous….

I really like the Bigger images a lot and I’m very happy that I can control my pages in HTML. Can’t wait to see what is next.

Well…
.
It’s back.
.
I have no idea how, but the blank page now has my info back on it…
.
.
Thank you whoever and / or whatever fixed it!
.
.
Tell you what.
.
…Maybe after this software upgrade is all done, we all go to a bar and get drunk…
.
And we can make some “I survived the CarDomain Software Upgrade ’08″ Bumper Stickers…
.
.
I’m 43, and have yet to go into a bar. Ever….
.
So, I think I am finally ready

Well, the editor has been a pretty big pain-in-the-backside for the first couple days, where one very minor change (such as adding a new color to a title) would completely trash all of the previous formatting on the page and leave a rather scattered mess behind. It appears a bit more stable today, but it’s still taking some getting used to. Some nice new features, but a couple things have left me starting again from scratch. I do like the potential I see, though.

The looks is cool, but when I upload pics, I cant add them to my page. I double click and nothing works. I got a few to work, but now there’s no response.

I like the new page editor. The FAQ section is great too, I hope it will help others clear up some of the present issues. All the new resized pics on my page were linked with html from Photobucket. I was unaware we could still upload various sized photos thru here.
Thanks again CD!
