Million-Mile Silverado Listed On eBay. Only $30,000!

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Back in February, Dave blogged this Silverado just as it was approaching the million-mile mark. Now, the owner’s listed his trusty work truck on eBay, and he’s got dollar signs in his eyes. The seller’s explanation for why he thinks the truck is so valuable is kind of convoluted and long, but it basically comes down to this: the truck was featured on NPR’s All Things Considered. And while it’s been through five transmissions, the valve covers have never been opened. Worth it? Even if you think so, you might not be able to bid—the truck is "offered to collectors," and only "pre-approved bidders" need apply. Check out the auction—the feedback he’s gotten in the Q and A section is pretty hilarious. Do you think the starting price will be met?

You must be a meatstick to sell a one million mile truck for thirty grand. You can get a decent brand new car for that kind of money. You would have to be even more of a meatstick to buy it for that much money. Last time I checked, a vehicle with high miles was cheaper.

That Silverado is a piece of crap. My Friend’s 57′ V8 Chevy Could Crush that Thing. It’s got 800 HP and it has a lift kit on it as well. Beside’s, Silverado’s are Ugly. Who’d wanna buy an old chevy that has a million miles on it, While it’s on sale for $30,000?

– Your a FUCKIN’ Idiot – I would never sell a truck for that much money anyway………………………………………………

damn 1,000,000 miles is an impressive feat but I wouldnt pay 300 dollars for it. I would just take 30,000 dollars and put it down on a 09 Dodge Challenger SRT, or if I really wanted a new truck go get a brand new Chevy pick up damn near fully loaded!

Another reason he ain’t getting 30K is cause nobody’s paying that for a truck with rust on the rockers. It you take a close look at the rocker panels in the pic, either thats dirt or it’s alot of rust.

“I also have samples of my oil analysed every 3rd oil change to check for patterns of wear in the engine. This has been done since about 370,000 miles. These list the date the sample was taken ,but also the odometer reading ,and the miles on the oil at time of sampling .” WHO DOES THIS??? HAHAHA THE CAR DOMAIN ARTICLE IS REDICULOUS

i dont think GM wants this kind of publicity and definately not this truck. if i were him i would post it for a penney. FIVE trannys. God. i think he wants to make up for the money lost in other replaced parts. who knows. he’s nutsss.

If this guy finds someone retarded enough to pay that much for a 91′ reg cab 2WD Chevy pickup that hasn’t even been fixed up a little bit then I’ll laugh my ass off! If I had $30,000 to go buy a new truck with and I saw that on ebay I’d just say fuck it and go buy a new Silverado 4×4, besides GM could use the money (no offence to GM, they kick ass!)

I’d bid on this auction if the prize was the chance to kick the guy in the nuts as hard as I could. 30 grand for a used up piece of crap… the business end of this guy’s crack pipe must be smoldering.

When the guy with a Saab 900 hit 1000000 miles, Saab gave him a new 9-3. This guy on the other hand, ain’t getting jack shit.

I agree with the guy on eBay that asked this question: How do you say that a truck that has had the transmission changed FIVE times is a million mile truck? The truck should not only have its original engine but also original transmission. But you know some stupid sucker on E bay will buy the truck for who knows what reason? I’m not putting chevys down but come on $30,000 lets get real here.

Hey Jay,the answer to your question it-BECAUSE ITS A CHEVY!

Jay
Aug 21, 2008 at 4:43 am

Its a chevy, why does he think one mil is unusual?

duane
Aug 21, 2008 at 4:27 am

I’d make him pay me $30,000 to shoot him in the ass and take the truck.

Don
Aug 21, 2008 at 4:17 am

I’m betting the guy has priced it about what he thinks a new Silvy would run him, and he’s dreaming that the Chevy folks will pony it up for him so they can advertise this little milestone.

Hey, it never hurts to have goals.

I’d rather buy a fully restored 50’s truck for that price if I want a “REAL” collectible. Outrageous and hilarious this is!

Aug 21, 2008 at 3:44 am

That’s funny as hell…
.
I’d hate to go to his garage sale…
.
He probably has a 200 year old axe for sale.
.
“All Original”
.
It’s had four handles, and two heads,
.
but it’s still all original ;)

Turds don’t go a million or even 500,000 miles. They tend to lose their cohesion in wet weather and turn to mush. Think of the Renault LeCar and you’re on the right track.

No… this guy sniffed too much glue when he was a kid. The greater, overlooked miracle is that he didn’t total the thing due to all the dead braincells… but brains are resilient and often re-route around damaged areas of the cerebrum if given the chance.

I’d say he’s off by about $25,000 at least… and I’m being very kind.

Polish a turd it’s still a turd!

My Dad’s 78 Park Avenue has 500,000 + KM on it do we brag about it. Noooooo….

Just enjoy it. What a nob!

This guy is an a-hole. Who cares if it has a million miles, but the motor has never been opened up. Mileage doesn’t make it a collectible. I’m sure there are hundreds of trucks who’ve done the exact same thing, but the owner isn’t a-hole enough to tell the whole world about it like it’s something to behold. Anyone fool enough to buy a turd with a million miles on it deserves it.
