Yours may have been a simple replacement but many are more difficult and if you scratch the paint and don’t prime again, you’ll have rust appear soon after, which compromises the windshield bond, hence your roof strength.

Too many people have been ejected through the windshield of their vehicle in a crash because the installation process of the new windshield was not done in the proper manner by a trained professional. A non-professional installation can also lead to the windshield separating from the vehicle in a roll-over. With windshields these days being 40% of the roof strength, how strong do you think your roof is if the windshield separates from the vehicle?

That was also not silicone that the technician was using. For your own safety and the safety of the passengers in your vehicle, please get your windshield replaced by an industry professional.

Hey Larry, I like taking pics of my cars everywhere, and in this case I was, as usual, just casually snapping some pics for my diesel Escort’s ride page. My cars very rarely go to a shop for any work, so it was a big novelty to see it sitting on the property of a legitimate garage. Definitely worth a photograph or two, though I refrained from posting them on my page, to protect the reputation of the shop until the whole smashed-windshield thing was sorted out.

I have a a serious question, when I started to read this blog/article I thought perhaps this was a brand new car. I just would like to know why you took a picture of the car before taking it into the shop? I have made my guys take pictures before working on a car, but why did you take a picture? were they doing cosmetic work to the car or do your just like to take pictures or ?

reminds me to take a photo. altho replacements for my car are kinda thin.I keep a fat original right in the warm house. finding an original that ricochet’d bulletts is thicker and safer. Pits can be polished. Thick older glass is worth it.Does the diesel escort have a thicker windshield? I owned a gas escort that fell apart…new glass seems to be a lie about strength, be careful.

They need for you to prove that the windshield was fine before they would replace it?!? I don’t think that’s cool. Good that they oblidged but if I dropped off a car and it was damaged at the shop they better not even ask me for proof…
