yeah sorry to kill your lovely story but the dog was not moving or breathing when the cop pulled them over. its a 20 min drive from san marcos to the emergency vet clinic in new braunfels even if you are going a hundred. The vet clinic had the guy and girlfriend on the phone during the whole ordeal and the dog was not breathing in san marcos. The couple said they would try to get there and maybe they might be able to do something with the dog. the office replied to that with a negative but the guy was histerical while the girlfriend on the other hand didnt even act like it was a big deal. cops are most of the times a lil overkill with nebody they pull over. i hate gettin pulled over, especially for something petty cause they are bored. But this story has been blown so out of wack that its not even funny anymore. I happen to know this cause my girlfriend works at the emergency vet clinic. Get your facts straight. But if you get the chance open that throttle up whenever you can, just make sure if you do get pulled over you are in an actual emergency. Not because you refuse to handle the death of your dog.

Cops can be quite evil at times. Friend of mine got cut really badly working in his garage. Ambulance couldnt make it there in time so I had to take my friend to the hospital. I was going about 15 over the limit when johnny law pulled me over. He looked at me, looked at my friend, then looked at me again and said, So what is the hurry tonight, son? My jaw dropped and I said "well my friend is bleeding badly in the back seat. Can you please help me get him to the hospital before he dies on me?" "UHHH, let me call my commanding officer about that one." A couple minutes go by and he comes back saying," I talked to my sargent and he will be here in ten minute to escort you" Not exactly the sharpest tool on the force is the thought that was going through my mind. I calmly said, "well my friend is not going to last that long. Just follow me and if you want you can write me a ticket when I get to the hospital." So he finally agreed and we got there about ten minutes later with my friend passed out and about two pints lighter. Thank goodness that I made a knot out of my shirt to stop the bleeding otherwise my friend wouldnt be here today. Some cops are utterly worthless. But this story of mine does have a happy ending. I guess I am not the only one who lodged a complaint against that moron. He got fired, my ticket was dismissed and I got an award for my selfless efforts. I know there is no true happy ending for the couple in this article. They might get the officer fired, they may even get to successfully sue the city. But in the end, nothing will erase the memory of watching their dog die because of some corrupt, egocentric piece of rotting rancid fecal matter like that officer.

damn pig should get fired. that couple won't be able to bring back a companion just because a cop wanted to be a bad ass. and you can't pick up a companion anywhere anytime..

Well I work at a vets office and I see animals die everyday. Yes all the things he did were wrong but if the cop would have escorted them to the vet the dog would have lived. I have two beautiful Pit Bulls and if one of them were in that same position as the poodle then I would be at that vets office no matter is behind me. Also that toy poodle isn't a stray that just walks up to your door, or that $100 puppy. Toy poodles are expensive, So it's not just a dog. The relationship and memories that them couple had with that poodle is worth more than just to watch her choke to death and you cant do anything about it. The way that the guy acted is nothing compared to what I have seen people act over their dog that has an upset stomach or their dog is limping and there is nothing broken.People go histaricle over Somthing that isn't going to kill their animal. He had every right to act the way he did.

cop shoulda tasered the prick, and all for a poodle ;)
that guy was freaking out cop did the right thing

That cop was totally right for what he did. It is just a pet. I love my pets but you would have to be nuts to let these people go with out a ticket. What pisses me off are the stories of when a cop holds a car with a woman in labor or a diabetic in the back seat and there is a real emergency.

Personally I would have called 911 and informed them to inform the cop to follow to the vets office.
I hope we find out how much they are awarded in the lawsuit sure to follow. Cop was a major tool IMO.

I feel bad for the dog, but 100mph could get them BOTH (and others) killed. Better to let a dog die then to let the dude risk injuring himself and others.
