Porsche 959 on eBay

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

You don’t see these for sale every day. The seller claims that the rare Porsche is fully US legal, with "over $250,000 in upgrades, most notable of which is 702 HP and 640 lb/ft of torque." Apparently, all this work was done by the folks at Canepa Design. But does that make it worth the starting bid, set at $650,000? Personally, I’d want it as close to stock as possible. Two more pics after the jump, and check out the eBay auction for all the details.

Auction states that the current mileage 2,100 …….. mileage when pics taken at race track 1,741 ………… Does that mean that it’s aquired 359 miles at the track?

I would think for $250,000 in upgrades they could have thrown a few grams of chrome on the wheels. Just my opinion.

The car can ONLY be driven a very minimal amount of miles on public roads, Your now able to import cars like that under the “Show & Drive law” it is not legal to drive as a daily.

my favorite part of this is that the seller states that the car has 2100 miles, but the picture of the odometer clearly reads 1741 miles.

Gorgeous car & I’d love to be in a position to buy this but why would somebody spend $250,000 upgrading an already expensive car that they dont use “1987 Porsche 911 959….Only 2100 original miles”

Hasn’t Bill Gates been trying to legalize a 959 for decades with no luck? How’d this one get in?!

I especially love how he threatens to cancel “no feedback” bidders when he, himself, only has a feedback rating of 1!

Wow! A very amazing car. Will be interesting to see if it makes it through ebay or a private sell via ebay or a private sell.
