I could see the utter horror on everyone’s face as they turned to see what POS had just let one loose amongst the crowd. I cranked the car one more time and it fired, but only to reveal that I’d blown an exhaust manifold gasket on the passenger side. So with the car ticking like a bomb, I quickly put the car in gear and got the hell out of there.

My most embarrassing moment in a car was in my 2006 Dodge Charger with a 5.7 Hemi and a Flowmaster exhaust, anyway I was driving down I-75 towards Tampa, Florida when I see a first generation Mustang (circa 1964) so I decide I’m going to “say ‘Hi’.” So while doing about 75 mph, I popped it into neutral while I was next to him and revved the engine so he could hear the Flowmaster, took my foot off the gas expecting to just put it back in drive and take off..well I hit the gas pedal before the Transmission Control Module had a chance to figure out which gear it should be in and I just heard a THUD and the check engine light dinged and lit up and the vehicle refused to shift into gear, just kept revving like it was still in neutral, also the worst part was I was in a construction zone with concrete barriers right against the edge of the road on both sides so I had to just coast until I cleared them. Luckily nothing was damaged(except my pride) and I just had to pull over, put it in park and put it back in drive and I was good to go, after I took off again I saw him about 2 miles later and just drove by and hid my face, lol.

My most Embarrassing moment, involved a 1975 monte carlo.. a red light.. and a car full of girls. I was trying to rev the engine to impress the girls and got a cabin full of smoke. I blew the head gasket and had the steamy smokey cloud appear when the engine blew.. Yep, my friends and I, had to get out and push the car out of the intersection.. And, then wait for my mom to come pick us up.. truly embarassing!!

a broken timing belt on a main street. walked home. too many expenses already..walked back to car next day, pushed it myself as traffic started to get going, backwards up the road,into a supermarket parking lot. Not exactly out of the way, I proceeded to tear into the car where it sat, taking up a thruway for store parking..and to assure you this wasn’t slow: 30 minutes, radiator out, along with front end of engine, all back in, sparked up, and away I went…actually ya know. that wasn’t embarassing, I would post it again. I am in disbelief I have not one embarrassing moment, that is true…

one time i decided to be cool and start my cavailer with everybody standing around u can check out the car above and its a 5 speed well anyway i figured out the hard way that the car was still in reverse when i tried 2 start the car it shot me backwards up a curb and into a fench there was no damage this all took place at a football game u could just imagaine all the people around

For me, It had to be driving around on the old motor. I had to change plugs every couple of months just to keep it on the road and basically didn’t waste my time cleaning the old plugs since they were so bad. We did a compression test to find I was driving around with 5 cylinders instead of 8.

The carb had been giving me problems for a month or so before but somehow the bugs got worked out (so I thought) right before the night kicked off. I drove it fromm my house into the cruise crowd. I pull into the quick stop, shut it off, and run inside for some snacks. I come outside (a good dozen or so people/cars were pulling in) and jump in…..

crank, crank, crank, crank, starter assisted running, dead.

Pop the hood open and take off the air cleaner. Thought the choke lever was caught on the air cleaner spacer.

CRANK, CRANK, CRANK, WHOOSH!

The carb floats got stuck wide open, thus causing fuel to vomit out and over the engine.
I Didn’t have my torx set with me so I couldn’t fix it on the spot. I had to call a tow truck and pick it up in the middle of the quick stop parking lot while tons of girls and classic cars were cruising by.
The tow truck had to take the main strip (where crusier night was taking place) to my house, talk about embarassing….

I gave up on Edelbrock carbs after that night.
