What Did You Do This Weekend?
By Rob Einaudi

I got my Volvo towed. Why? Cause I recently bragged to John and Jen how I had never gotten a parking ticket, and how I had never gotten towed. So I managed to do both at the same time. I came back to my rental garage in my Satellite Friday afternoon and noticed that the wagon was missing. Since no one in the history of the universe has ever stolen a Volvo 240, I was pretty sure it had been towed. Turns out the city clears off 11th Avenue in the U District every weekday between from 4 to 6 PM. I don’t know how I had missed this–the signs are pretty clear. Oh well. So, $118 later (plus the $38 ticket) I got my car back from Lincoln Towing up on Aurora.
What did you do this weekend?

and then there was a Saab. A show not of leather but steel and considerably larger. Didn’t remember the shape of its headlights, my repulsion in its presence kept me preoccupied. Spring is too cold in the mornings to polish this repulsive steel shoe. I must close my eyes now. They are open.

It has welds too and breathes. I must buy it mints.

I changed the oil, oil filter, and air filter in my ‘07 Scooby.
And then I hit the dusty roads!

I may be seeking a volvo…it’s a scenario where the rust is so obvious, and car runs good..and there is a local elderly woman at the helm. It’s got the 4 square headlights…Anyway, for auto chores, I did nothing but contemplate winter, and checklist is complete, as geek and ahead as it may sound, mid august is last chance, or there will be a backlash..it narrows down to an oil change that takes forever if to winter work. everything else is beyond a nuisance to encounter below freezing…and the months approaching it.. I did notice the car is squeeezing recent ground welds into bumps already..glad I waited…Steel is a living thing…

I did a 250 mile motorcycle ride from Albany NY to West point NY. Its the longest ride I’ve done in one day.
~
The point of the trip was to ride a motorcycle “rollercoaster” called Bear MT. twists and turns all while peering over a 400ft cliff. Its pretty hairy.
~
Oh and I averaged 60mpg on the bike.

i got pulled over in the accord and get a non-sense ticket for not displaying “N” (new driver sign) $110. On top to avoid a tint ticket I ripped the tint off my accord. Not a nice birth-day present for me!!

I did not do anything car related. Out of cash, out of time. I did however see a few odd things that remined me why i keep meaning to bring my camera with me everywhere. I saw a perfect caption picture. There was a guy here in town with a Tundra and was carrying an extension ladder in the oddest place I have ever seen. He was driving down the Hwy 30 with the ladder strapped to the UNDERSIDE of his truck. I was mentally picturing what kind of accident taht would cause if that front strap came loose and the ladder got stuck to a pothole.

Replaced the front struts on my ‘01 Grand Prix GT. First side took 2-1/2 hours, mainly because I was determined not to drop the lower control arm. The second side took 1/2 hour because of knowledge gained from the first side. Neither spring went a-shootin, but a thumbnail is now blue. Funny how your whole arm can have shooting pain when you only smash a thumbnail.

I put a new set of ignition coils on the Firebird’s 3.4 and OH MY GOD what a difference. Definitely a Eureka moment when I took it for a drive afterwards. I’m thinking it’s definitely faster now than the GT with its 3800 series V6.
