We have something similar in Oz, but instead of 2-foot tall cement walls we have lots of little 4-inch blocks arranged in a snaking pattern. Surprisingly (or not), everyone actually speeds up to go through them, just to see how fast they can go. Possibly similar problems here?

This brings to mind another question. Has anyone other than me speed up before hitting a speed bump just to see if you can catch some air? I did that a few times in a 1979 Buick Century and was actually able to get the front tires off the ground about an inch. Unfortunately it came down pretty hard as soon as the back tires hit and I bottomed out the front end.

Have someone read the carscoop article?
"According to reports from the Chinese media, the speed block has surpassed the local government’s expectations as not only did it slow down drivers, but it has actually created massive traffic jams on a daily basis… And if that isn’t enough of a problem, due to the fact that the road is so narrow and twisty, a large number of drivers have ended up scrapping their vehicles on the cement wall."
