Drifting for the Rich: Getting Sideways in a Maybach

By Craig McAlpine

iMotor

Ok, so we decided to do a ‘Dream’ car issue and almost all the cars we featured were ones that you would love to drive. But when it comes to a car to be driven in, it had to be the Maybach. But as the Maybach is not exactly new I decided to have a bit of fun, and with the aid of stunt driver Mauro Calow, we got it sideways! Check out the article for more images, and even better a video of the action!

Yeah OK it needs bigger rims etc guys but this is what a CarDomain Maybach should look like:

I actually see it quite a bit driving around central London!

I agree with Natschke. I heard that cardomain’s headquarters has now been moved into a government-funded housing project.

To make it a true car domain ride you should have jacked it up and put 36″ rims on it.

Hey guys… they been doing this in the middle east for years now, except at breakneck speeds and drifting more or less out of control… while crazy-ass dudes hang out the window – sometimes with the butt on the sill and hanging onto the A-pillar.
-
This shit is tame, seriously tame compared to what I’ve seen.
-
Search YouTube and you’ll probably find what I’m talking about.
-
As far as Maybachs and whatnot drifting, well don’t expect those who look down their noses to want to join in, unless yeah it’s a rapper, celebrity or something like that.

I can see it now. Every rapper will be having their driver do this while their ass is out the window yelling, “HEY, HEY my N****, You got any muthaF***** grey poupon!?!??!

This might be a sign of what’s to come…
.
I predict that rich enthusiasts will see this, and in less than a year we’ll see performance tuned Phantoms and Maybachs. When people go to mod their Rolls, they might start putting on BBS wheels instead of Lexanis.
.
Just my prediction… I’m not sure if I would like to see this or not…

I suggest doing another shoot in the exact same way, except with a Coolbear… lol

Well at least the photo is a good example of breaking away from the stuffiness associated with high-end luxury Euro sedans.

The ability to obtain a Maybach, driver and photographer for the purpose of such a photoshoot seems well… a bit priveledged all by itself, but the photo turned out pretty cool.

Dear Esquire,

It seems humor is in short supply here at CarDomain but I’m guessing intelligence follows closely.

Ah, jolly good!

Say old chap, would you have any Grey Poopon?

I am not impressed. Oh, with the car, yes, with the “drifting,” no. This was clearly done on wet pavement. This isn’t “drifting” as most of us know it. Real drifting must be done on dry pavement, show lots of tire smoke and burn up a set of tires in about fifteen minutes.

Still, taking a Maybach through any turn sideways and under complete control is not something we see every day. He he he.
