Vin Diesel Slams Guy Onto Bulletproof Automotive S2000 (my car)

By Ben Schaffer

Bulletproof Automotive

I loved the stories that people made up when I said that Vin Diesel broke my car earlier in the year. Sure my car was broken a bit, and I showed readers of this blog a photo of the aftermath, but I couldn’t at the time say why it was broken on set. People started assuming that he drove it into a wall and all sorts of crazy stuff!

Anyway, the trailer for Fast and Furious was released recently and my car was in the trailer (very briefly). I thought I’d take a couple freeze frames from the trailer to explain now more of the story.

So as you can see, Vin takes this guy, picks him up by the neck and slams him onto my car. This was apparently done take after take (I feel bad for that guy getting slammed over and over again). Anyway, the scene involves more than just that, and from what the guys on set reported to me, it sounds like it’ll be a really cool scene to watch. For now the trailer with the dude getting slammed down will have to suffice.

The car will officially debut at SEMA 2007 at the Toyo Tires booth. Tomorrow’s Honda homecoming event is the only planned appearance between now and SEMA since a lot more must be completed on the car. It clearly is no where near done visually, performance wise or anything else. It has a long way to go.

For the past nearly 8 years through Bulletproof I’ve been advising thousands of S2000 owners on JDM tuning and what are the best parts to fit their needs. I’ve had the benefit of having influence in so many of our customer’s S2000 that I’m very proud of. And yet, I’ve never really been able to go all out and do exactly what I wanted 100%, just an idea here and an idea there… That day has finally come and I’ve been very secretive of it for a while. The first hint was when we released our Bulletproof “remix” hardtop, that was the first official project for my S2000 buildup. The first of many original parts we’re building to create what I consider to be my own personal ultimate S2000.At Honda’s S2000 Homecoming event tomorrow 725 S2000 owners will be able to critique this creation in progress. Some will undoubtedly hate it, and I’m cool with that. Some may love it and that’d bring me great joy. In the end, I built it to satisfy my own creative needs. I am around high end JDM parts all day every day and I wanted to finally build something entirely my way so that I could test myself and push my own limits of creativity. Needless to say, doing so does not yield a conservative car. This car is aggressive in all forms, but aims to do it tastefully and most importantly, functionally. For the sake of innovation and the love of the S2000, I’m doing a lot of one-off parts for this car, some of which will become production items (the hardtop is the first, you’ll see more later).

the accomplishment shouldn’t be based on the fame your car gets you… a true tuner enjoys their car because its THEIRS and they know that every bead of sweat and drop of blood that went into it was well worth the time, money and pain they went through to make it happen…
