This Just In: New On The Net

By Jen Dunnaway

Yesterday in New On The Net, I poked a little fun at TTAC’s whiny diapers, and considering the gentleness of my goading, the results were nothing short of hilarious. Better yet, in the midst of the ensuing brouhaha, TTAC finally got some dealer to take pity on them and hand over the Challenger test car they’d been dreaming of! No need to thank us, guys, just enjoy that car. And try to keep it out of the wall, y’hear? Now, for the ultra-serious business of the news:

  • BMW invited some disabled Iraq war vets to rip it up on their test track at the BMW Performance Center. Driving instructors and specially-equipped cars were also provided to get the vets back into driving. Kicking Tires.
  • Car & Driver has posted another one of its lists—this time, it’s the top five cars that alleviate pinch at the pump but are still "fun." And as usual, it’s a list designed for rich people. Seriously, if you’re having trouble paying for gas, the best course of action is probably not to buy a new-model-year anything. And what the heck is Corvette doing on this list? Car & Driver
  • Earlier in the week, a hit-and-run driver who killed a pedestrian filed a lawsuit against the City of New York for—get this—not taking better care of his Bentley after it was seized for evidence. That is one hard individual. New York Daily News.
  • Jalopnik’s running some pics of the 2010 Porsche Panamera with its drawers down. It’s hatchy! Jalopnik.

I can’t believe TTAC spent two weeks to write this response… what a joke! This isn’t an issue between TTAC and CarDomain anymore. Rather TTAC is showing CarDomain’s membership of over 600,000 rides how juvenile they are, as well as their own membership posting in their blog how stupid this issue’s response is and threatening to cancel their RSS feeds from TTAC! Thanks, to Jen, I learned TTAC existed and have my own opinion about the business they are in… it’s a joke, and I’ll never put a whole lot of stock in anything they ever publish without seeking a second opinion! Oh, and by the way TTAC, good job for insulting the contribution level in the blogs and ride pages on the part of the CarDomain user community, editors and staff… real classy!

You should thank TTAC for the attention you’ve been getting, Jen. Because of them, I discovered and was able to enjoy your half-cocked, semi-literate banter.

I wouldn’t exactly call it gentle, considering you said that “…all TTAC does is spew hate and vitriol for the Detroit automakers, loudly delight in their every misfortune, and smack their lips in gleeful anticipation of the collapse of our nation’s auto industry…”

I think they are just looking at the industry honestly and reporting what is going on without bias TOWARD Detroit. They are, as I am, disgusted with the state that the Big 3 are in due to poor management (which includes acquiescing to the unions too often).

Also, they used an individual’s Challenger for their test.

TTAC site is owned by a guy with a chip on his shoulder, with writers, that have.

TTAC just needs to rename themselves to ‘We hate American Cars /companies’ at least then they’d be more truthful.

The Porsche Panamera looks like a whale… There, I said it. I’m sorry.
