Dealership Owner Flips '09 Challenger in Fatal Wreck
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
If you got here from the newsletter, you’re probably looking for this story on the twin-turbo Gallardo.
A 30-year-old owner of a Dodge dealership wrecked a new Challenger (not the one pictured) in the early hours of Monday morning. Tanner Odom, who wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, died at the scene from "multiple blunt-force trauma"—and the Challenger demolished several utility poles before coming to rest upside-down. Odom had assumed ownership of Big ‘O’ Dodge after his father died in a motorcycle wreck only five years ago. Full article and news video here.
Thanks to Maffew for the tip.

I am calling out the following disrespectful, ignorant, gorilla-for-a-mother, pieces of nothing who dare to open their sissy mouths about my friend on this site. That’s right Evan, GTwildfire, 7urtle, Cpillar, JBoc, Sonic the Hedgehog, Dlyan, you are all a waste of space and a shame to your mothers. None of you deserve to shine Tanner’s shoes.

I am absolutely astounded by the rude comments here!
First of all, NONE OF YOU KNEW HIM and if you did, you would feel horrible! Tanner would have given any one of you the shirt off his back if you needed it! He was real, down to earth, kind hearted, well respected, and more!!!
So he made a mistake, well he paid the price OK – with his life! How would you like it if people you didn’t know said such disrespectful things about your good friend or family member?!
How dare all of you for your LACK OF RESPECT!!! Tanner was a VERY GOOD MAN! And how do I know???
I DID KNOW HIM!!!
And by the way, neither he nor his father were known to speed or drive irresponsibly. BOTH of their deaths were completely SHOCKING to those who knew them – those who knew them well enough to comment on who they were!!!

This is an unfortunate event. Wonder if there was anyway to avoid an accident like that. RIP.

I agree, silver spooned moron didnt wear his seatbelt. Sure I can see how sad it is. That is too bad for the family but we wont get on that magazine if we die in a car wreck because we arent a rich kid. Boo Hoo! Buckle up and try to live. I would rather take my chances with a belt than without. So he choose to make the decision to not wear a belt…..what an idiot! Oh well. Maybe he thought he didnt need a seatbelt but either way wrong decision. Yes I agree maybe a nomination for a Darwin Award would be appropriate here….LOL

Big whoop, people die everyday in car accidents, some poor silver-spooned bastard thought he was on a track and the only reason it’s even mentioned on this site is because of the car. If you people are going to be upset at someone then be upset at CarDomain for exploiting this man’s death just to write about an ‘09 Challenger being wrecked. Buckle up people. You might die with or without a safety belt on but I’d rather take my chances with.

Sad commentary, especially since he was driving a modern car, and it appears that the wreck itself was survivable. Being a car guy, he should have known better than to violate the first basic principle of auto safety. He didn’t buckle up. All the safety equipment in the world cannot help you if you are not buckled up. Guys, PLEASE wear your seatbelts! My prayers go out to his family.

Sad as it is, the young guy should have at least learned some lessons from the way his father died. But it looks like he didn’t. Hardest thing really is dying in the pink of one’s health. I feel for his family…his mom, siblings, wife, and children. He should have thought of them too while driving that Challenger.

This is in response to FinTO’s comment. Tanner Odum was NOT on a race track of any kind. He was on a two lane road. That’s why there were telephone poles and no “safety rules”.

Accidents are something that cannot be prevented. All car collisions are preventable providing you follow the rules of the road and take percausions.

I remember when his father was killed.Such a waste of human life. But he as did Tanner died doing what they loved.I know both would have passed on the Bike & the Hot Dodge if they could have seen the future. But we can’t do that so every one needs to have thier heart right every mornig that they wake up-Because we never know when the Lord will pull our number.Night time, wet roads & a Hot car do not mix well if you add maybe to much speed.I can tell all the younger folks that it happens so fast you don’t have a prayer to react.Take care young folks. We need you to grow up..Poor Mom,my heart breaks for you & the other members of your family. My heart goes out to you one & all….bj

All Condolences to family.
What track was he winding the C out on that has telephone poles, let alone that many? Unless the poles were all together one must assume speed was a factor taking out how many? One doesn’t forget to put their seat belt on if they alwasy do so, do they? There is a time and place for everything, Sounds like this was time to pay up for racing on a track where they have telephone poles and no safety rules.

Another sad and tragic story. My condolences go out to the family. This young man had it made, but God had another plan. We will all find out the answers to “why” some day. In the meantime, as fellow “car people”, show some respect and support for a fellow “car person” God Bless.

people who read this and talk shit about the guy only want attention, it’s obvious that karma will one day bite their cold hearted asses and one of their family members will be mauled by a kitten and im pretty sure that when they tell someone their story some one will say that they were stupid and an idiot.

I rolled the car and took out several telephone poles, I HIGHLY doubt a seatbelt would’ve saved him.

You people are unbelievable. It was an accident. Yes, he should have had his seatbelt on. Have you ever drove a car and forgot to put you seatbelt on? Please, give his family a break. People are so cold hearted anymore. Why not look at the “good” Tanner did for people?

Failing to wear a safety belt while driving a powerful sports car at a high rate of speed is not a slight miscalculation, it is a display of either ignorance or machismo. Either way, he gets a nomination for a Darwin Award. Hopefully, others will learn from his mistake.

I have to make a call for compassion for the sake of the family. Remember, this guy probabaly had a wife and kids. His mistake while stupid has cost that family the ultimate price. Unloading hatred towards someone who just passed is in plain bad taste. Instead of insulting a dead guy, use this story as an example everytime you get in a car. Buckle that belt people…

We called him a moron/stupid because he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.

And yes, there will always be some margin of error that we may have miscalculated when driving but certainly majority of us here would be wearing our seatbelts so at least we would still have a percentage of survival even in some accident.

I love how every time something is posted anywhere about a guy wrecking a car and being seriously injured or dying he/she is branded a moron and an idiot etc etc. It was an accident, it can happen to anyone, all it takes is one miscalculation. People crack me up when they talk shit because they think they’re the greatest drivers on the planet when they would most likely wipe the car out like this guy did in that same situation. The guy fucked up and it cost him his life, but I wouldn’t go talking shit on him because you never know if that next drive you take is going to be your last.

just as it’s stupid not to ride with a helmet on, it’s equally as stupid to drive without a belt on.
