Just traded in my CLK for this car. I also test drove the BMW 550i, Mercedes, and the Lexus. I bought the Genesis on the spot after test driving it.

Great car. It's nice to see this from a company like Hyundai who feels their potential buyers aren't so stupid as to not realize a Lexus is a Toyota and an Infiniti a Nissan. They're saying, "Why do we need a new brand? This new era of consumers are smart shoppers, they'll look at the product and if it's good, it's good."

And the Genesis is damn good. It's got the benefit of being the underdog and will attract people who don't need a car to stroke their ego. They're people of worth and real millionaires who know you don't build wealth by wearing flashy clothes and leasing expensive cars.

I expect this car to do very well.

Haha...a GS smoke this car? I tested a bmw 535, a lexus GS, infiniti m45, and a lexus is350 and the Genesis is by far the best. I got it fully loaded for $40k cash. i will admit I like the lexus GS dash a little more and the handling of the bmw just a tad bit more but this is the best of both worlds. Luxury of a lexus and the power of a BMW. 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and that's with unleaded gas. i can put premium fuel to crank up the hp a little more whenever I choose.

you w/the Lexus, I'm guessing my BMW 540i sport will eat you're lunch, so what? I'm also guessing you read the 1 review that pitted the Genesis V/8 against the Lexus v/6 & somehow the Lexus came out barely on top w/regard to acceleration, so what? Though this is the only V/8 Genesis tested by anyone thus far that showed times that slow, & every other test mule would have beaten the Lexus according to thier 0-60 numbers. The fact is that both the Genesis & Lexus are farely close in every category except one, Price, which in these times is one of the most important factors to a lot of people. I'm looking for the car that provides the most dependablity, comfort, & excitement for the least amount of money. At this time neither Genesis, Lexus, or for that matter even Mercedes (except AMG) sedans handle well enough for me, but if Hyundai can produce a coupe sports car that is competitive to the 330ci & G37, I'm in

Nice write-up and review. I'm amazed at how far Hyundai has come I would seriously consider a Genesis over some of its more expensive rivals. I actually like the fact that its low key yet offers all of the luxury you would expect from Lexus and BMW.
