GT-R Wrecks On US Soil
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
It’s one of those days where the spectacular wrecks just keep on coming—first a Challenger rollover and a Veyron lawn ornament. And now, from Jalopnik, probably one of the first if not the first GT-R to be wrecked in the US. It seems people could be doing a better job of keeping brand new cars out of the fence, though it’s probably bad luck to note such things. Two more pics after the jump.

Notice how we always learn of these “spectacular” fails with new and highly desired cars? The f-up’s can easily be attributed to lack of time and experience behind the wheel of the new vehicle. I’m not saying the driver’s were so much inexperienced, they just don’t/didn’t have or take enough time to learn the car’s behaviors. Even professional racers “warm-up” to a particular car before they start pushing its limits.
These drivers were certainly not professionals.

’tis true, the word “spectacular” can mean something completely different. Might want to check the online dictionary to reinforce or discount your perceptions next time before getting out the torches and pitchforks.

I want to address the 2 comments that complain about Jen’s use of the word spectacular. If you look that word up in a dictionary it does not mean “wow that was cool.” It is being used more in the sense of “this is really odd that rare cars have wrecked.” Per the Webster definition, any car wreck that causes people to stop and stare is technically a spectacle. (whether someone died or not) I personally would have used a word that is less up to interpretation, but to each their own…

Ok am I the only one that finds this a lil messed up??? Not the wreck or nething but im talkin bout the first line of this post??? I honestly dont see nething “spectacular” about the Challenger flipping. In case u didnt care to read down far enough the guy driving the Challenger DIED!!! Ok lets get a lil geography goin here… the wreck happened in Greenville, SC and I live in Anderson, SC. For those of you who dont know that is about a 10 minute drive on the interstate between the two. I know that this mans death is very hard and hitting very close to home with not only his family, his family who lost his father jus 5 years ago, but many others as well. I have been a fan of this site for a long time but that comment jus hit a very sour note with me. Now Jen I dont usually have a problem with your posts but do u still see anything “spectacular” about that???

Money can’t buy good driving ability, nor can it buy common sense.

People just don’t realize the actual power behind this 2-ton machine.
If ONLY people just bought the car with the power that they can ACTUALLY handle then we wouldn’t have all these f*cked up GT-R’s lying around. Seriously, the person who crashed it should go and purchase some low-end powered vehicle, like a civic or corolla.. at least I’m sure they be able to control those cars without end up crashing like a total dumb@ss.

Let me try this comment again…shall I? Why is there non directional tires on this japanese “supercar”. worse than 1 million 80s subes without welded rear ends. At least the subes had gravity and true awd. Can I just be a kamakaze..maybe a bonzai..is the gook hypocrisy done yet?

Honestly, I think it looks better like this.
The front ends are so ugly…
I’d keep it this way.
