V6 Mustang vs. Eclipse GS: Which Would You Choose?

id take tha evo great car then taking an eclipse cause evo is a great drifter.

Eclipse. This is well engineered car, by company which has department to constantly improve racing cars. Nice body, which resists wind better than Mustang. Nice sound from the pipe. Holds to the road on any sharp turn(!)with over the limit speed. Just take a drive in it – you will see. Dashboard designed for the drivers easy access use. I have Lancer RallyArt right now – previously had Eclipse. Loved it! All Mitsubishi’s sports cars are an Art. You truly become One with the vehicle when you drive it. They have link to your soul. As for a back seats – when needed – even big guy 6′ tall can be a passenger. My son in-law is a prove. Again – just take it for a spin. Feel it

I just bought a 2008 v-6 mustangs> That powerful V-6 engine can be tuned out to a wapen 360 horses, with just 6,000 dollers worth of parts. Any true tunner would known that. That gives you a car that will out perform both the eclipse and the V-6 older brother the GT.

if i had 20grand i would buy a 4wd eclipse gsx and turbo it and give it plenty of other performane mods on it with money to spare and blow the doors off any mustang.

I’m a huge Ford fan, but buying a V6 Mustang, would be like buying a two wheel drive Hummer. Makes no sence. Also that new Eclipse looks Generic, they should have stuck with the last Body style instead of trying to make it look like a Civic.

If I had to choose between the two, I’d take the Eclipse. I have an ‘02 Eclipse I bought brand new and I’m still in love with it. No complaints about it what so ever. But more than anything else, I’d take an Infinity G35. In the 20k range though, I’d take the new Accord coupe or Altima coupe.

welll im into tuners, but wat the mitsubishi company did with the eclipse and the lancer is messed up; both the eclipse and the lancer look gay as hell, i think that the 1997 Eclipse and the 2003-04 Lancer Evo. lokks a whole lot better.

V6 Mustangs have always been something of a stigma — you almost have a decent car but you’re about two cylinders shy. If you can’t afford to fuel a Mustang as it should be with all rumbling 8, then you should get the Eclipse with a screaming 4, which is personally what I would choose.

I’ll wait for the new V6 Camaro, putting out around 300hp 3.6L direct injection. It should put the scare on the GT Mustang, but it will lack in the torque department I hope to God you don’t compare the new Genesis 4.6 against the G8 GT since the GT is cheaper and faster and they have similar warranties. I think the Genesis may be a bit more porkier than the G8.

There’s a guy named ‘Maustangman’ who says mustang make him want ot throw up. An unknown person says that America needs to stop thinking about performance and about reliability, but the comparison is between two ’sportscars’.
Some people just don’t think before they say stuff and make themselves look flat stupid.

I’d have to take the Mustang simply because I have been against Mitsubishi since the first time I saw one of their tiny, little, beater trucks putting down the street.
I don’t care that ‘it’s better on gas’, if that’s what you are looking for then you need to go get a Prius, Yaris, Aveo, SmartCar, or any of those other lunchbox cars. NOT an overweight Mitsubishi that is being propelled by an underpowered I-4. Even though the Mustang is only a V6 at least it has sufficient power to move the vehicle.
What I also find interesting is all these people making statements on how they would never own a V6 Mustang, like it’s a disgrace to their family name. YET they manage to swallow their pride to settle with a I-4 MITSUBISHI!

That’s exactly why I bought the V6 stang………cuz I couldn’t afford a V8. If I could take it all back………I would have went on and gotten a V8 instead of being cheap….dammmmm

What’s there really to think about? First no comparision. No way a four cylinder car should sell with the price tag of a V6 car. Secondly, both cars look good and weigh about the same. As far as many concerns of gas mileage, if you cared about gas mileage you wouldn’t be looking at a “sports car” if that’s what you wanna call them.
Both have good looks, handling varies on a person’s preference, performance mustang wins, and on value eclipse loses. I don’t even like mustangs but its a no brainer, Mustang is the winner in this battle.

A V6 Mustang doesn’t work for me. V8 yes. V6 no. I’d take the eclipse and save some petrol.

Depends on what you like, the Mustang has a bigger engine with more HP and toque, and its mileage isn’t that bad, at 17 City and 26 Highway its not bad at all, by comparison the Eclipse gets 20 city and 28 highway. The Mustang has RWD but its suspension isn’t independent. the Eclipse makes descent HP but it’s torque isn’t close to the mustangs but it has pretty great handling and is more Aerodynamic. I’d go with the Mustang simply because i’d prefer RWD and i could have more fun with it

I’ve driven both and the Mitsubishi is a much nicer car. Besides both will easily break the speed limit in any state.

the mustang is rwd, so it is pretty easy to set up an amateur drift car. just light weight it and drop in a sc V8 or turbo the six.. on a basis of practicality though, i would pick the eclipse. fwd for snow plus better gas mileage and easier to maintain. but who wants to be practical? i say mustang because its more fun.

stang uses too much gas. it gets 17mpg in the city!!! from a v6!! The gs gets 21 and does the same as the mustang.

FOREVER. for somebody with just about no mechanical expierence i would say the Eclipse. more reliable, but parts are expensive… plus i think the mustang looks much cooler, and you could always go V8 in the future. idk, just my opinion.

If I had $20k in my pocket I’d buy a CBR600 and some performance parts for my current car.

A Rustang or an Eclipse. I would rather have a reliable car such as the Eclipse. I wouldnt drive anything Ford except a Mach1 or a Fox Body Cobra. Everything else they make sucks. I would take the Eclipse.

I would pic the eclipse and for the guy who said that the mustang gt would beat the eclipse gt im not so sure about that the stang gt 0-60 is 5.1 and the eclipse gt 6.0 so its not that much room for error that would be a good run tho

That picture at the top is of the GT SE eclipse. Not the GS. The GS isnt as sexy as that car. I would take an eclispe, only if it was a GT. A four banger eclipse is a waste of money. I would take a 5spd V6 Mustang. Besides that, its faster, and RWD so its more fun.

Neither, but if given to me, i’d take the overweight and underpowered eclipse. The mustang has the look and feel of a 60’s sports car, but man, I live in de 2000′ and soon in the 2010′! I like modern looking cars and modern technologies in general, and so the eclipse is more appealing.
But I still prefer my present car.

Eclipse guys do some research the mustang V6 is faster than the eclipse GS.

First of all, shoulda put an actual pic of the Eclipse GS. Not the 09 Eclipse GT that’s fully equipped as shown and then a pic of a standard V6 Stang. The truth is, the mustang is a faster car out of the box, and truly does have more potential than the Eclipse. The GS sporting a 4-cylinder in that heavy shell and FWD config makes it less than ideal for weekend drives through the mountain hills. The Mustang, however, has very Torque-rich motor sportin 210 HP to the rear wheels which is more than enough to fuel your need for speed. When it comes to bolt ons, the mustang is the ideal car with a plethora of parts in the aftermarket. Mustang wins this battle, just as the Mustang GT would win vs. the Eclipse GT!

gotta go with the stang here, the mitsu is overweight(for its engine displacement) and way under powered. its all about power to weight, and Ford has done a slightly better job there, though they couldve done much better even with the base model…

I am definitely an import fan but in this case I would go with the Mustang. The V6 mustang has really good bang for the buck, and just because these are the lower end models of sports cars doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be sporty. The eclipse doesn’t even really represent the import community very well. It is huge and fat. When an import weighs as much as a mustang you are doing something wrong. Mustang for the win…

Like I said about the challenger if I want a modern muscle car it better have MUSCLE! I own a 2g eclipse spyder and it runs great and I drive it every day for about 4 hours a day, but after the dsm line up stoped the eclipse’s just lack in well every thing, but the new ones are more of a throw back as far as body style. I would have to say eclipse for right now.

I like Mustangs,BUT not V6 ones!!…the Mustang has less Hp than a standard Audi TT,which has 225Hp and weighs much less!!…168 Hp for the Eclipse!!…is there a lawnmower engine in there!!…i`d go for the Eclipse,nicer bodyshape,BUT will have to replace the lawnmower engine with a car engine….

The Eclipse. My god. I can’t go two blocks without seeing a mustang… Don’t get me wrong, I see some eclipses, but not that many. And I’ve been in the newer mustang. It is built for a basket ball player inside. The dash is so high, and it is just too big to be a “sports car.” Just my two cents.. Don’t take this personally..

I dunno about the GS version, but I own an Eclipse GT with the v6 in it and it gets compliments and stares all the time from people I dont know. It would take a lot of mods or a higher end version to get that with the Mustang. So, I would pick the Eclipse because I have one but if all u are after is performance and not looks, get the Stang hands down

Ok Mustangs ARE overated! still one of my favorites but the truth is the truth. Now when it comes to the numbers, V6 with 210BHP with a weight of 3,330 against a miserable 168BHP and i say miserable because it weights 3,263 Lbs which is not that lighter than the mustang! Now as looks goes i still say Mustang! That egg shape is not happening for me! But just my opinion!

The Eclipse has gone downhill ever since they nixed the turbocharger. I would take the Stang any day of the week.

If the front of the Eclipse looked as good as the rear, you could sign me up any day. However, I find the bulbously huge hole in the front to be ugly as sin, and it just ruins the whole car for me.

The Mustang looks much better, so that takes my vote.
