Underground Racing Makes Gorgeous Turbos, Gallardo Makes 1000 Horsepower
It’s not like this is the only Gallardo in the world outfitted with twin-turbos, but the system that Underground Racing built is so sexy that it almost seems a shame to cover it up. And seriously, all aesthetics aside, that gleaming gear practically doubles the Gallardo’s horsepower, so hitting the gas is probably equal parts terror and awe. Thanks to the guys at Speedhunters for digging up this awesome glamor shot!

As a long-time Lamborghini fan (Can you say Countach? Miura?), I can’t put down the Gallardo, but I’d rather have a MurciĆ©lago any day of the week — just an all-around better-looking car. The point of the article was the custom twin-turbo, though, and that is truly a work of art.

I am more of a Ferrari fan myself, more elegant and less “look at me”…but this car is an engineering eureka.

The Lamborghini is in a class of its own. It’s supposed to be elegant and classy. It has a racing heritage and that is why it is expensive.
And by the way talking about Supras, I think the highest dyno’ed yet is the 1520whp one.

if i had cash to throw around id go with the lambo. Otherwise id get the gtr….. but nothing would compair to the handling of the lambo plus 1100HP on this car is pretty insane. weight to HP ratio is just sick.

Hey Larry thanks bro. What these people dont understand is why would i pay 200k plus for a car that can get raped by a car that cost half that and then if u really want to spend some money u can upgrade turbos,ECU,valvetrain, pistons, exhaust well u get the idea. Im not hating on the Lambo but i just think that they are OVER RATED. at the end of the day again ill stay with the GTR35 or the GTR34 cant go wrong with those.

That is a sick setup! Everything perfect, bends on both sides of the motor for air intake and exhaust. Sweet work! And you people comparing this to imports, they could never handle like this car. And bone stock, this one could blow them all away. Sure the Skyline and Supras could all take over 600hp on stock internals, try pushng 1000 like this car.

Sweet ass car, but you’d think a twin turbo Lambo would put our more than 1000hp. I’ve seen twin turbo Z’s, 3000 GT’s and Supras at 1000hp, so shouldn’t a twin turbo Lambo have more?
Lambos... overrated... NOT
Sep 8, 2008 at 11:13 pm
well… i am really not much for the new lambos, more of Diablo and countach person… BUT!!! this lambo is SICK and i would love to see it run… im just kinda curious if they modded the engine itself (internals), and how much boost its pushing…
now wheres that Ford GT twin turbo (yes some has done it also) and Saleen twin turbo… got some schooling to do… lol

despite which car is better for the turbo setup, this turbo system is still very clean and well thought out. its not the car thats the point. its the skill and effort put into the turbo setup.

Bad ass, but I honestly think they could have gotten more out of it. I’ve seen 1KHP Supra’s, 300zx’s, and skylines; all V6 powerplants. This car is a V12.. How much boost can that engine handle with stock internals?
Nice going anyway!
”
I have never seen a V6 Skyline unless you are referring to Non-GT-Rs such as the Skyline (Infinity G35). The GT-R is an inline 6, 2.6 liter engine and those are said to be able to handle 600 hp with stock internals. Either way, you are right, that is a very nice setup and they did one hell of a job with it. I would rather have it very responsive than a ton of power that comes on late and really only works from a rolling start or in a straight line.

To XTZTwinTurbo, I belive that both the Supra’s 2jz and the Skyline’s rb26 are both Inline 6s not V’s. Back on topic that setup is intense.

I wonder if they could design fairings to complete the body at the outside, and leave the engine compartment open? Not only would the georgeous design be left for intent drooling and staring, the whole heat transference thing would recieve a huge dollop of cooling airflow….

With the heat coming off of that engine, any sort of covering better have a high melting point otherwise this car will be leaving slag all over the track. Here is another question, do you really want to make an engine that is already prone to fire even more powerful and thus generating more heat?

You could cover it up with some nice clear Lexan or something to that extent. And now that I said that it’s only a matter of time before some idiot with to much money to have any decency or taste (Russia, U.A.E., Kalifonia, ETC…) to have one made with an all clear body. And i apologize in advance for giving them the idea.
