2010 Toyota Prius vs. 2010 Honda Insight: Which Would You Choose?
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
There’s a new battle being fought in the automotive world. It’s kind of like the pony car wars, only much more boring. It’s the hybrid war. The two main contenders are the Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight, which will both be be fresh and new for 2010. It’s funny how they look kind of the same, isn’t it? Ok, so I know a lot of you guys couldn’t picture yourselves driving either of these cars, let alone buying one. But pretend for a moment that you have a gun to your head, and that you have to take one for your daily driver. Which would you choose?

HATS OFF TO HONDA’S NEW INSIGHT!!
Here is better vehicle at a lower price. The Insight really has class and style. A lot of engineering and thought has gone into both the Insight and Prius cars. If anyone wants to knock Honda or Toyota, where are the US car makers and their competitive models in this price range?

honda looks better and cheaper
Honda Fan, But Seriously GM Has Better Styling in this category
Jan 18, 2009 at 11:01 pm
Neither. They both look totally retarted. Let’s take some better design styling from the circuits if they are worried about aerodynamics.

Yeah…. For all of you people who care about it being so ugly, you’ve got a serious case of the “smug” These cars are shaped this way to be more aerodynamic. And in case you didn’t notice, money doesn’t grow on trees, so get these to pay for fuel prices. And frankly, I think those SUVs look way uglier and like a box compared to these sleek cars. Oh, and by the way, I’d prefer the Insight

The Honda, without a second thought. I drive the Insight now and am getting 72mpg. I’ve had it since Oct. 2000 and have 240,000 miles on it with no end in sight. I’ll drive this thing till it falls apart. It has plenty of pickup and I’ve even had it over 100mph on the freeway with plenty of pedal left to go. All I use it for is work which I travel around the Chicago subs as a network engineer, so it’s perfect for that. I get reimbursed for my mileage from the company I work for, so they paid all my bills on this car and since it’s now paid off, I’m making money on it. I can go 750 miles on a single tank which lasts me 7-8 days. So, who’s laughing all the way to the bank?

how about id rather be shot in the head who needs a hybrid normal vehicles account for less than 2 percent of the pollution in the world so who gives a fuck…besides there both foreign pieces of shit anyways.

P.S. since they are basically the same shape, and have both been around long enough to refine their systems to be very reliable, I guess give me which ever one edges out the other in fuel economy, even if it is a slight advantage. If I have to drive one of these ugly things, I may as well get the full benefit.
Derrick

The reason these look alike is because that shape is very good for reducing drag. If your car just stops flat in the rear (like a sedan for example) the air coming off the flat trunk swirls around and causes drag from the rear of the car. These on the other hand slope to the rear giving the air a smoother departure and therefore less disturbance and less drag. The front is so pointy for the same reason, so it can cut through the air to an extent instead of “push” the air. They could shape them more like a 350Z or RX-8 and probably get a similiar effect, but why would they want to make ‘em look that good. lol.

I think you people need to consider what the purpose of a Hybrid is….
And think twice about Doggin on someone who chooses to help the environment over speed & style..
You should support this because Not may of you are doing anything but add to the problem because of your customizing and need to drive Huge suv with spinning rims, all you sports car fanatics with your removed cats and smog stuff….
These people dont have the same NEED’s that me or you do with there transportation, they look at our car and think ” wow thats ugly”
so show respect to the movement for the Earth and our future….

there both pretty ugly
Mike
Sep 12, 2008 at 4:23 am
People say the Honda cuz it looks better. But, look at the size of the wheels! Toyota went so far as to make the wheels smaller to reduce the Inertia of the overall vehicle, and thus, improve gas mileage. Toyota has gone to every length possible to make this a better car. Although the Honda may look better, the Toyota is the better car for the hybrid-wanters!

I would rather jump off a cliff than drive either of those piles.

I really don’t want either of these. I don’t want to be one of those people that says, “neither. I hate both of these”, but that’s exactly what I’m going to say. I would rather walk 50 miles a day instead of drive a Prius, and I really hate that the insight looks strikingly similar to the Prius. How about a little originality? And, with what I’ve heard about the batteries and such these cars use doing more harm for the environment than good, I just don’t want either of these cars.
.
Sorry, but I don’t wouldn’t take either of them. I have a bike. It’s good for the environment, and good for you.

i say prius. there are more of them, and the technology probably has most of the bugs out of them allready. i’ve never seen a REAL tricked out prius though. that would be cool. a performance hybrid

i dont know what happen to toyota in the past years…no more celica no more mr2 no more supra…every good car company should have a car for everyones life style….and there designs have been horrible the highlanders are hideous and so are the camry solara’s ! ( thats suppose to be there top of the line sports coupe) the best looking toyota is the FJ ( which they could have still done a better job) and the 4Runner..Dont get it twisted though they still make wicked engines….but i have to go with honda for this one.

god they’re both ugly… the Prius is actually reliable, as i recall there were so many problems with the insight that they were taken off of the road. and they say American cars are unreliable… just certain ones. but its not like i plan on buying either an american car or one of these two faces… one that looks like a regular prius that slammed into an ugly pole or a civic that got rear-ended by a CRV and somehow, beyond what we know about how only mammals can produce offspring in this fashion, but it spawns an even uglier car that gets better gas mileage.

Neither. And that is exactly why i wouldnt drive a jap car. American manufacturers are smart enough to know NEVER to create anything as horrid as that.

How about…neither. When the votes are counted, the neither votes should be tallied to determine if anyone actually wants one of these things. Small, ugly, and barely big enough to go get groceries.
Three words for the econuts…hydrogen, fuel, cell.

Neither. You couldn’t pay me to drive around in either one of these things.

Sep 11, 2008 at 5:40 am
I think the new Prius looks better. It is a lot less retarded-looking.
That said, I’ve always believed that if engineers at both companies spend enough time working at making the bodies aerodynamic, I’m sure they’ll end up with cars that look exactly the same (with different badges)….
Way to prove me right Honda and Toyota…

The Insight, just have to watch out for the “smug”
Andy
Sep 10, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Insight. Even though it looks looks the first gen Prius, the headlights/front end is what sets it apart from the cutesy Prius. Although if I got one, I would do some roofline trimming to suit my tastes for a Honda.
