TRUST (GReddy) Bankrupt

By Ben Schaffer

Bulletproof Automotive

I just got an email from Japan on this. Apparently in Japan Trust/GReddy filed for bankruptcy. I only have one source on this at the moment, but it’s a reliable industry source. It is obviously really sad news; not just for the company and their many employees world wide, but also for the industry as a whole, within which TRUST/GReddy has been one of the oldest and most stable companies for decades.

I hope this news is false, but my sources are deep in the industry and are almost never wrong.

This Just In… TRUST (GReddy) Bankrupt

OH my God don’t say it is true, what will I do, my priceless rice burner will not operate anymore or look cool and make people oo and awe over my car, what will I do, please help me out, does this mean I have togo to TJ for my parts, you know Jose Manuels shop in downtown Tijuana Mexico, where I have to buy back all my parts that were stripped off of my stolen civic.

So sad to see a known quility company go out of business due to inadequate duplicate parts on the internet. We are a Honda and Acura tuner shop in Whitehall PA. When we heard about GReddy’s unfutunate finacial problems the whole shop was very disappointed. We have sold alot of GReddy products over the last 4 years. We would not install customer suppled inadequate parts

Why don’t they patent their designs? Make it harder to knock off the parts! And how can you have never heard of Greddy before???

Greddy was expensive because of R&D… companies can’t just eat R&D costs… that’s why knockoffs are so cheap, since they just stole designs, they don’t have to charge more to recoup R&D costs.

Everyone unfortunate it’s True! As of 9/10/08 Trust/Greddy filled for banruptcy at the Tokyo District Court. It’s the knock offs that killed them. According to various reports, Trust is approximately $60 million in debt and, after reporting a serious decline in sales since February 2008 and amassing $43 million in loan payments.

Kori it might have something to do with the knock offs selling more than the actual quality products! The truth is i see more ricers with knock offs than actual tuners with the right original parts even if that means to drop extra cash for the quality.

I’m sorry but… WTF are you trying to say? I can’t understand your post at all. Why post if you seriously haven’t heard of Greddy?! (I don’t even know how that is possible). And you still hate on them… wow man.

On topic though, their loss would be a huge disappointment and have a huge impact on the entire tuner community! They put out great products with great quality and I certainly hope this is just a rumor!

i truly hope this is false…if GReddy were to truly shut down, that would deal a major blow to the aftermarket industry. scary to think about. how did it happen?

I truely hope Greddy can find a way out of its financial problems. It would be a huge loss to the industry.

This is truely unfortunate. It will be a loss to the import performance scene. Greddy is still selling products for now and even if they end up closing for good and not get bought out you can still get their products as they are going to have to sell out their inventory.

http://www.Motorweb.com is my source for Greddy parts and they are still selling and shipping the products. But if they do close up you can still get comparable exhausts from Tanabe, SKunk2, APexi and HKS. Motorweb has plenty of those too. Their turbo kits were nice and it wil suck to lose those too, even Turbonetics has quit making turbo kits for everything but Mustang from what I here this week. Look for new kit from Turbo Specialties to take the place of the Greddy kits. I get all my stuff from Motorweb.com they always fins what I need.

Sooo sad. They made nice gauges :( Looks like I’ll be holding onto all my electronics from them, even if I don’t need them anymore.
