This Just In: New On The Net

Well, it’s beginning to feel like we’re getting down to the summer’s last few nice weekends for junkyarding and top-down cruising—so this weekend, I’m planning to do both. Hope you’re all out enjoying the sunshine as well, if you’ve got it. Here’s the news:
- It’s not like it’s sunny everywhere: Sprint Cup qualifying got rained out in today in New Hampshire, which means points leader Kyle Busch automatically gets the pole for the first race of the Chase on Sunday, even though Clint Bowyer and Jimmie Johnson turned faster laps than he did in practice. In light of the recent spate of nasty weather in the East, some pundits are wondering if the ultra-high-stakes Chase races should even be allowed to be shortened by weather. Rain tires and rooster tails? SceneDaily.
- Hummer is rumored to be on the chopping block, but GM is still trying to resuscitate its line of oversized lawn ornaments. They’ll be offering an E85-capable H2 next year, and even an H3 with a four-cylinder diesel! Carscoop.
- Moller, the boutique builder of alleged flying cars, has been commissioned by a Russian businessman to build an airborne Ferrari 599. Where he’s going, he won’t need roads. Jalopnik.
- GM has released hot new teaser photos of its 2010 Camaro SS. Top-of-the-line motor will be a 6.2L LS3 putting out 422 hp. Edmunds.
