Mopar Underground's SEMA-bound Challenger

This 2009 R/T was destined for the crusher until it was scooped up by the Mopar Undergound team, who has just started modding it for SEMA. First off, they are tweaking the nose and rear spoiler a bit to make the R/T look a bit longer and pay more tribute to the 1970 original. More pics and details at Automobile.

I wanted the new Challenger sooooo bad at first. I am young and look a bit ghetto, but I make some hard grip. So I go to my local Dodge dealer in mid 2008 and ask to test drive the new Challenger SRT-8 they had in their showroom. The salesman smerked at me and walked away. He acted like this car was Dodge Viper or something and gave me no love. So, I went to my house, dropped off my 2001 Honda Civic DX and rolled back dressed in a suit and tie, and rolled in on my 2007 BMW M6 convertable. The same salesman approached me and asked me if I was part of a candid camera joke. I said nope, but do you take cash? He still acted in disbelief. I pulled out $10,000 cash from my briefcase and said, I would put this down if I like the car. He took me for a test drive, he drove and when we got back, the cops were at the dealer waiting for me. They asked me a few questions and I gave them a few answers. After I was cleared, I pressed charges for discrimination against this dealer. I was rewarded a hefty some of money and I went straight to my local Honda dealer and bought me a new 2008 Honda S2000. At Honda I was not reported to the police for trying to purchase a new ride. So I say this: FUCK YOU AMERICAN CAR PEOPLE!!!! YOU ARE RACIST AND CAN’T TRUST ANYONE WHO LOOKS LIKE AN ARAB. FUCK YOU!!!!!
And I changed my mind about the Dodge Challenger. It is way over rated piece of American shit like the sales people who sell it.

Whats all the hoopla aboout over this car. It will fade away in a year. I still thinks the new charger looks better even with 4 doors.

I own an SRT8 #904 of 6400 and this thing is no damn Ford, of any kind. It puts all those Fords to shame just sitting still.

I just got back from test driving a R/T today and I wasn’t overly impressed. I would love to own one but for no other reason than the great iconic looks. Perhaps the 6 speed would have been a little more exciting but the auto was about as exciting as a Ford Taurus.

I’m so glad these guys saved a perfectly good car from the crusher. I looked at the pictures of it and a stock car and I must say, that longer nose does give it a more aggressive look. No 20+ inch rims though PLEASE!
