Racing in the Rain at the Toledo 24 Hours of Lemons
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Tom is sending me updates on his phone. I snagged the pic from Jalopnik’s extensive coverage.
Race started bad with rain all morning. It stopped raining about the start of the race. I was the first driver and did really well until I tried to pass somebody in a corner and hit a barrel and got black flagged. They took me in and I had to throw a dart at a board to find out my punishment. It ended up being "pray to the lord," which was me standing on our car’s trunk and reading two chapters of Peter Egan’s new book.
The punishment didn’t take too long and we got a new driver. The track dried out and we really started moving. After my incident we were 15th.
As of 8 pm eastern we were in 3rd place but got another black flag and dropped back again. It is now 9 pm and we are 426 laps in and Scott Smith is in the car.
I’ll keep you guys posted as I get more details from Tom and the rest of the guys. Go Scott, go!
