CarDomainTV: Kelly American Challenge Buicks
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Here’s the talk I had with Rick about the Kelly American Challenge Buicks they were running in the Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge back in June. These were some of the bigger cars in the event, but they did quite well, placing 3rd and 4th in Shop Varsity. Not bad for a pair of vintage race cars! Be sure to check out owner Shaun Coleman’s ride pages for more info on these cool cars.

Rick (my crew chief) kinda mis-spoke
— its actually more like 720+HP on the #80 Buick (the one with the 358ci motor) — the other cars about ~600-650hp.

I loved watching these Buicks run at Portland International Raceway’s Historic Races this summer. Fast, loud and supper stiff suspension. They looked great mixing it up with other vintage race cars.

Thats not bad, 600Hp for a 358 motor. Especially if it’s from a chevy. It’ll be loud as hell if he drove it on the streets….
