High On DeLoreans!

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

This is totally my idea of a fun road trip: a couple of weekends back, John and I jumped in the Hyundai Genesis press car and headed for the coast after hearing there’d be a DeLorean event in the little town of Hoquiam, WA. Turns out that Hoquiam’s historical 7th Street Theater was turning 80, and they were screening Back To The Future to celebrate. The theater people had invited the Pacific Northwest DeLorean Club, and while they were expecting maybe a handful of cars to show up, the DeLoreans turned out in force. There were over a dozen cars lining both sides of the street out front, and they’d come from all over Washington and Oregon for the event. See more gullwinged goodness below the jump, as well as this video of the cars rolling in—and let us know if you’ve ever seen so many DeLoreans in one place!

ian, ian, ian, you know everything is always fine. people saying what they feel, how they feel, and then here you guys come. cheese and crackers trying to make themselves look smart by putting someone else down. look i’ll bet all six of my vehicles are nicer than yours, i live in the suburbs, and speak proper, articulate english. Just go take a spin class, get a tan or something and work on your self asteem, because now i have to not talk about cars just to set your stupid racist-ass straight. but i digress, deloreans are sweet, even the new ones.

Mark V,

It sounds like you dont even know your DeLorean history yourself. He was dismissed of the cocaine dealing charges based on a defence of entrapment not because he didn’t do it. Also search google for “General Product Development Services+DeLorean” and you’ll soon learn that John DeLorean was a crook that embezzled millions of dollars out of the company leading to its bankruptcy. The companies downfall was not caused by some stupid government conspiracy invented by DeLorean followers like you, he milked the company dry out of every last cent that’s how it happend. It’s also why the DeLoreans were built poorly and went like crap, because there was no money behind them.

You want to see more Deloreans? Come to the Delorean Car Show out in Las Vegas in September 24-27th 2009. http://www.dcswest.info/

http://www.deloreancarshow.com/

Remember stupid comments come from stupid people, especially the ones where people said Coke built the car or John Delorean was selling Coke. John Delorean was Acquitted of all charges and never spent 1 day in Jail. It was a FBI blunder due to a poor informant along with a Government sting that brought all this on and finally killed the company. If our Government gave John Delorean all the money they spent to illegally try to convict him the company would still be alive.

The day John Delorean was busted was the day a major bank approved the loan he was requesting to keep the company alive but was withdrawn due to the pending charges.

Now you few idiots out there learn your history, read the facts before sticking your foot in your mouth AGAIN!

I like the idea of bring the Daloreans w/ The Back to the Future movie to celebrate the 80th birthday of the theater. The car was cool back in the day and that was fine and dandy. So, it took alot of time and effort to prep the cars by their owners (blowing off the dust) to get them ready for one day and the put the cover back on (out of site).

Actually Alot of intergrated circuits now found in many cars was originally aspired in and around the original delorean’s but funny enough the car had a real memory chipset and basic pc (ecm) onboard yet every one loved the car cause “The doors go up”…….

It was a stainless steel beast that could possible never oxidate or corrode due to the fact yet did anyone notice No cause “The doors go up”……..

This car is a icon to american made Inginuity and craftsmanship yet as time goes by i garraunty it is remembered most of all because “The doors go up”….

That guy who posted at the top of the page that thinks cocaine built these cars is and idiot. Do your homework on John Delorean. Those cars had already been designed, built, sold, and discontinued long before he got himself mixed up in the drug trafficking.

all you who are bashing on Deloreans a f*cked in the head. these are awesome cars, very cool because they are unique, not bland and boring like 80% of sh*t on the roads these days. unfortunately the stainless steel body is very heavy and the only engine capable of actually being fast in those is the very very rare Turbo one.

COCAINE built that car! AWSOME! Coke is awsome..weed is better. The car is cool. and the lights are cool too. Old men didn’t have electronics like that in their day- so their jelous. But they did have alot of coke…make them angry now.

Can you guys F***in read? the movie is not 80 years old…the THEATRE is 80 years old and they decided to celebrate the theatre’s 80th birthday by playing an 80’s movie. Read carefully people! The car is one of a kind for sure, but its still ugly.

Paul

The theater is 80 years old.. and to celebrate, they showed a movie from the 80’s..

There is no reference to the movie being 80 years old. FYI

Leave it to the “urbannegrotalkers” to leave the most coherent and biting sarcastic posts on any message board.

“all you on car domian talk shit when ur cars aint shit cayse ya dont got enough money to make your car any thing good keep talkin shit”

Timeless social commentary, that.

Every Delorean on the west coast, is a whopping total of 7? The underglow is a little cheesy but you have to think you see it coming down the street with them. It kind of hints at the movie.

If that DeLorean with underglow also has big ricer exhaust, then it’s the one parked at The Block in Orange, CA like…all the time. Was ugly then, is still ugly now. LOL

That car is just awesome, I swear. One of my neighbors owns one, always parked in his garage (surrounded by night-vision cameras with audio and security lights). But ever since that car came out, it’s always been the one-of-a-kind type. It would be nice to see one modded, twin turbo maybe, some kind of body kit, HID headlights, rims, small hood scoop, etc. The underbody lights are sure flashy, a good start!

They look so good. I loved that car. It was favorite car to have back in those days. They bring back memories of the movie all lined up like that. Surprisingly I didnt know there were that many of them still left around. A true antique despite the negative press the owner/creator got. Im goin to go home and watch all three movies jus to comemorate them.

Robert
Sep 16, 2008 at 3:47 pm

that is totally awesome. I have never seen more than one at a time, and for them to hold a show less than 2 blocks from where I used to live…just great.
