Rebirth of a Legend
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Here’s a nicely done trailer for "La Carrera Panamericana – Rebirth of a Legend," a soon to be released HD DVD that documents the 2007 La Carrera Panamericana. Quite a bit of footage is devoted to the build of Gary Faules’ beautiful 1965 Shelby GT350R. The film will make its debut next month at the Concurso de Motor Sports in the Mexican city of San Miguel de Allende.

Oafman,
Last year they allowed a few late model cars to run in and unlimited class for exhibition but they were not officially part of the race. The newest year/model car that can run in La Carrera Panamericana is a 1965 and there are several classes going back to 1950′s models. As for the Studebakers you saw, they are very popular in this race but their appearances are very deceiving because they are full tube frame built race cars with high dollar Winston Cup motors and often cost over $150,000 and all of them can do well over 200 miles per hour.

I love the number of vintage cars in that clip. Am I imagining or did I see 3 Studebakers? At least I think they were Studebakers…
