Well... I read a lot of stupidity as I was browsing down these comments. I have always primarily been a Japanese automaker biast fan. Don't get me wrong, The all new Chevy Camaro SS is a breath taking, fantastically built machine that I would most definitely purchase. Its just these raging idiots that post these unresearched comments that drives me away from wanting to be a part of that culture. Although the Camaro has an impressive 400+ LS3 engine under the hood mated with their 6-speed manual tranny, the 370z impressive V6 (that is nearly half the size of its competitors) post equal accelaration numbers. So why nissan needs to put more costs into squeezing in a beefy, gas guzzling v8 into its Z is a mind boggling thought to me. Ok, maybe that was just the uneducated thought of one redneck that posted a comment prior to mine. As for on the track, come on now. Yes the american muscle car market has come a long way on keeping its rubber on the pavement while hitting a curve at 80mph but to say that the chevy can out run the Z on a track is outrageous. All in all, they are both killers with neck breaking styling that are sure to get second and third looks from the beautiful blonde bombshell while you're cruising down sunset blvd. I would probably still buy the 370Z next year because of the unlimited potential of the VQ37. Imagine slapping a a big fat turbo to that thing! But the camaro would definitely give you all the thrills while allowing you the opportunity to help keep GM alive. USA!

All in all, they are both nice cars. Honestly, anything new is nice because no matter what one does to it there's always that good old WARRENTY! For starters... all of the "tuners" should refrain from posting here. These cars are both front engine and rear drive, so please stop trying to convince the world on how you think your Honda Civic is so much better than everything else. We don't care!
Someone here mentioned on how the Z car needs a V8. Couldn't agree more! No matter how much horse Nissan puts into that V6 they'll never really get the job done right. Hp sells cars...Torque wins races! And nothing beats that ROAR of a V8 at high rpm's! For $30+K you just don't really get much bang for your buck. Espeacially when for $25K I can go into a Ford dealer pick up a new GT Mustang and put $5K of work into her and drive off with 360 to 390 hp respectfully. And yes thats with a 4.6L V8, so it doesn't weigh a ton and does get supprisingly good mpg. Another thing...domestics are not un-relieable, heavy tanks! The 370Z and the GT Mustang are close within a 100lbs. I'm sure the Camaro will be too! The only heavy modern American muscle car is the Challenger and what it lacks in being light it more than makes up for in raw hp. Try taking a 350Z up against one of those HEMI's and its all over for you!
As for "drifting" its an American invention! That's right we did it first! I can do it with grace and style in my 73' Pontiac. Don't believe me than go rent "Diamonds are forever" (James Bond 007). He did it in a 71' Mach I. As for "reliablity" in American cars... com'on people this isin't 1975 and your not buying a pinto! Get over it and put up or shut up until you try a new GM, Ford or Dodge product. There matched in quality! Its been proven for some time now. You can't fault Ford if you haven't changed your oil in 20K miles in your Tarus. I can't kill my 89' S-10 with 263K original miles. I already shot the dam thing with a 45! Maybe I'll try burning it next!

My 08' GT Mustang w/5 speed stick gets 19/30mpg. What does your Corolla get?

Fuck nissan and the z. The Camaro will stomp all over that POS. In typical import fashion, I'm sure that nissan is exaggerating it's horsepower numbers. The 370Z will probably have a hard time trying to beat the new V6 Camaros.

Commenting J Piimp:

What is GM and chevy really going to do? Instantly lay off thousands of employees?

The camaro would absolutely destroy the Z car.
the Z is nice, but i dont think it has the grunt or the handling to beat chevy's camaro.
Hopefully, Nissan wont overrate it as much as the GTR.
the camaro is heavy, but with that weight comes 50 extra HP, and lots of torque.

I think that overall performance will go to the Z this time. Nissan just brought out the GTR and I can't see them stopping there at bringing out great cars. The bar has been set!! Now I'm not saying that the Z will be anything like or better than the GTR but they should be going in the right direction by now. What's chevy got.... the Cobalt SS....Lame and Ugly. And besides everyone knows that imports are just better!!
