Finding the Right Set of Wheels

Finding the right set of wheels for a car isn’t easy. Personally, I want good looking, unique wheels, but I also don’t want to step up to the plate and pay big-boy dollars for a set of HRE’s.

So with a tight budget in mind, I shot over to Achtuning in Redmond to check out the Hartmann Wheels lineup of OEM-styled replicas, which feature a blend of OEM styling and distinct aftermarket characteristics. I planned on just browsing, but when I got there, Dion suggested we throw on a set to see how they looked on the car. Talk about service—that’s ten times better then any software-driven or Photoshopped wheel mock-up!

I didn’t have a camera on me, but luckily Dion snapped some great photos of the S5 Replica wheels that we mounted on the A5. Now I’m stuck with the big decision, do I go with this wheel in a 20 inch? Or should I hold out for an RS4 styled wheel that I’ve seen over in the UK?

Have you looked at the HRE monoblok line? 1 Piece forged and the price point is lower. You get all of the benefits of HRE in a one piece wheel, and it is more affordable. Go to http://www.hrewheels.com and look st the mercedes line of monobloks. The M40, M43, and M45 can all be built for the Audi.

If you look at all my rides you will see that I’m more of an OEM plus type of guy. HRE’s are great but I don’t want the car to get caught up with all the G37′s and Lexus cars but everyone has there own opinion… Wait till I source a set of Bentley wheels for the smart, I doubt anyone is ready for that.

save the money and get some HRE’s or other originally designed rims. why buy copies that most people are already running on their rides. be original and spent some cash on nice wheels, it’s worth it.
