Mobil 1 Dominates CarDomain's Synthetic Oil Survey

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

On Friday I asked you guys what synthetic oil you used. I was expecting Mobil 1 to come out on top, but not by this margin. Mobil 1 got almost half of the 180+ votes we received. Castrol came in a distant second, followed by Royal Purple. I was also expecting the cultish Amsoil people to ambush the comments, but it didn’t happen. Another interesting result was how heavily you blog readers skew to the Northeast. See the poll results and Google voter map after the jump.

its been 15 years since I declared mobil 1 a dud..maybe worth a try? I was the quik lube guy who put up with bizarre complaints back then..over half the customers..all mobil 1 complaints. Before this gimmick called a poll gets written as a holy grail. think again. As one that has never used mobil 1..I have the oldest daily driven original engine in my neighborhood…Just Finely foriegn dandy without mobil 1.

I thought for sure there would be a lot of Redline fans especially since it’s so involved in racing. It has simply got to be one of the worst oil products on the market and it hs proven itself to be that bad on a repeat basis. Even so, I was happy to see what appears to be a good overview.
