What Did You Do This Weekend?
By Jen Dunnaway

I welcomed an AMC Concord into my life. Actually, it was that same car I first saw parked on the street outside of CarDomain headquarters a couple of months ago. The owner got the note I left on the windshield, then called me when it came time to get rid of the car, which had belonged to his late mother. The junkyard wanted to give him 100 bucks for it, but instead, for the paltry sum of $75, the Concord became my latest rescue project. It’s a strong-running, immaculately maintained little two-door RWD sedan—and it’s the first car I’ve owned that has either a trunk or an automatic transmission! Check out my new ride page.
How about you? What did you do this weekend?

Congrats Jen! I just had the same luck… $50 to rescue a 68 Dodge Fargo A-100 van! Now if I could just make a page for it…

Went to the Good Guys car show at Pocono Raceway on Sunday. Got rained on a bit, then a lot, but took shelter in the Circuit City tent, rocking out with some Guitar Hero. Talked with all the vendors, including the Air Ride guy who had their badass LSX Nova present. The wet pavement and clouded skies gave way to some awsome pictures of some very beautiful cars. After the show we stopped at Shenanigans for some mozarella sticks
All in all, a good day.

Congrats on the Concord. I’m President of the Southern Nevada AMC Club. Our club participated in a major car show this weekend and won the Best Club Participation award for the second year in a row. On top of that, my Bears beat the Eagles.

Finally, finally got inspection and emissions stickers on my Grand Prix. Got the run-around from a Pep Boys Service manager on Saturday, found out Sunday he was fired.
-
The went out of their way to kiss my ass on Sunday and the final chapter of the inspection and pre-inspection fiasco drew to a close.
-
In my travels I realize that many cops don’t look at stickers. There were about 10 close calls, and I’m surprised I wasn’t pulled over. Maybe the modded rims or the halo lights distracted them. I guess it’s a matter of hiding in plain sight… that works for my car keys.

I had a great weekend! I spent some time with some good friends on Friday night, had a wonderful time! Took the ‘66 to the drive in with this really awesome girl I’ve been hanging out with on Saturday night. Lost my wallet, went on a late night adventure with some friends to find it and was successful. Then I watched the race Sunday with some great snacks provided by previously mentioned awesome girl. After the race I spent some time working on her new car and taking pictures. Good times!
Great new car there Jen!

Awaited a hurricane to finally pulverize my neighborhood and send civics and evos down the river. But no. It bounced off the sube because it had a bumper, and rolled off my face without a breeze…75 bucks for a car. Nice. I had a flambouyant red and white interiored pimp mobile called a chevette for that price.

Missed a local car show, but it was worth it. Took the wife & kiddo camping. Good times.

Nothing quite as cool as acquiring an old AMC, but I did make it to a VW show down in Daytona Beach.
