Magnetic Air Car

Here’s one that came into our tips inbox earlier in the week. I guess I’m not sure what to make of it. From CleanTechnica:

The Magnetic Air Car uses three on-board substations to harness compressed air. The resulting airflow is channeled, modulated, and converted to torque that propels the car.

According to company representative Paul Donovan, the car uses a silicon salt battery that has 30% more mass power than a lead acid storage battery and can charge completely within an hour. The 95 percent recyclable battery can also can be used in a temperature range from -40 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius.

Though the Magnetic Air Car has not yet been tested, Donovan hopes to have it ready for production by 2010. The company plans on building its first prototype at Club Auto Sport in San Jose in the near future.

Does this sound legit? Cause it sounds kind of goofy to me. Maybe I’ll contact the company next week.

Please ignore anything you hear from MAC. We are the true inventors of the system they are claiming. A magnetic motor is also not needed its a wasteful step. Are patent for this system was submitted in 2006, and will soon be issued. If MAC proceeds to develop our technology they will be heading for a lawsuit. You cannot double patent an idea. Try patenting a fast food drive through, good luck.

Ask MAC where are their tests and prototype. They have none. Here is a link of our prototype air bearing turbocharger.

Some may be wondering why and air bearing? The answer is simple friction is your worst enemy it can rob 4 times the needed power to run a turbocharger at steady state.

Through our technology we will be able to reduce the heat of air compression by a factor of 3-5. What this means is less energy to produce compressed air as compared to an adiabatic process.

Once again here is the proof we have a built prototype they dont. Our objective is to increase the compression ratio of todays engines from standard 9:1 to 70:1 on 87-octane fuel. This will be accomplished by a two stage impeller producing 25 lbs/min at 7.8 pressure ratio and a discharge increase of about 50 F from any start inlet temp. This model ran into errors as it flexed too much to withstand the axial constraint bearing under high speed thrust bends it. We will be updating our model shortly, and again ignore anything you hear from MAC. They are pure pirates.

This is so simple that I wonder why it has not happened before. In 1975 I first designed this engine. Three Turbochargers, driven externally, changes the turbine into a compressor. Now both sides of the Turbo are compressors. Each stage adds pressure and velocity to the flow, just like a turbine jet engine. This creates six stages of compression using priority valves that open when drawn air demands exceed nomal output. Back then, the problem, was the need of huge air tanks to get any distance meant you drove with a very dangerous amount of air pressure. Today we have discovered how to make the beginning pressure without the need for huge air tanks. Now we can make, entrain, use and exhaust the air pressure, all in real time. No Dnagerous High Pressure Air Tanks. Making the pressure is easy, many have done so in the past. The problem they had, besides the air tanks, was once they got to speed, how do you throttle the engine. AND how do you keep the engine from self destructing if it goes to full throttle but free-wheels. Thanks to my new compatriots, we have found the way to make it work. That’s the secret that will make for a brand new powerplant. Generators will be Green in the future, water pumps can run all day and not cost a dime. People will be able to power their Homes, Businesses, RVs, Boats, Farms, Vacation Homes all wothout polluting and wihout long term major cost. Give the oil to the Military. We can even use synthetic lubrication instead of raping the earth of precious resources. Once this motor is proven, I’m sure it will fall into the hands of people who will figure ways to make this motor even more efficient. With enough Air Power and built small enough, something like the Moller Air Car could quickly become a reality. I like Moller, I feel a Kinship to the Man. I just wish this engine could have been created sooner. Moller Flying Magneitc Air Cars, what a concept!

If the term “Magnetic” is what I’m thinking of, it would be propelled by magnetic repulsion. There was an electric car made a long, long time ago that was propelled by magnetic repulsion drive. The system used a combination of strong non-electric magnets and electro magnets and gave a distinct smooth pushing sensation to passengers. I tried to find the name and year(s) of the ride but so far came up with nothing.

That type of drive system is extremely friction-free and since no gearing is involved if there is enough power the vehicle could be extremely fast if there’s enough power, but initial accelleration wouldn’t be as responsive as the Tesla Roadster.

As for the “air” part of it? That’s where most of the mystery lies mostly. Is it generating electricity from the passing air? If so it looks a hell of a lot better than that stupid fan car featured some months ago.

Oh, my search of the web did reveal that Nikolai Tesla reportedly modified a 1930 Pierce Arrow. It was fitted with an electric motor and a mysterious battery or generation device which was in the front passenger seat. Here’s an excerpt:

“At a local radio shop he bought 12 vacuum tubes, some wires and assorted resistors, and assembled them in a circuit box 24 inches long, 12 inches wide and 6 inches high, with a pair of 3-inch rods sticking out. Getting into the car with the circuit box in the front seat beside him, he pushed the rods in, announced, “We now have power,” and proceeded to test drive the car for a week, often at speeds of up to 90 mph.”

Seems mysterous if not questionable prototypes are nothing new.
