What Did You Do This Weekend?
By Jen Dunnaway

Well, I attended the Petit Le Mans, and it was awesome. But on Sunday, I had a bit of time to kill before my flight home, so I decided to check out Atlanta’s beautiful Oakland Cemetery. They happened to be having some kind of big swarming festival that day (not always what you most want to encounter in an otherwise peaceful boneyard), but the upshot of it all was that some cool cars showed up. This collection of vintage Cadillacs, owned mostly by members of the Cadillac-LaSalle Club, looked pretty badass chilling by the curb amidst a backdrop of headstones—it was like a funeral procession straight out of the 70s. Check out Mike Dougherty’s ‘59 hearse, along with the ‘56 Fleetwood, the white ‘63 with the little fins, and the ‘71 and ‘72 DeVilles, below the jump.
How about you? What did you do this weekend?

Checking out the rides at the Goodguys Lone Star Nationals in Fort Worth, then stuffed myself with an awesome chee-burger at the Coppell Deli, followed by some loafing time on the sofa.

I got back to the tear-down of my Firebird’s 3.4 V6. Removed the valve covers and pulled the rods from the passenger side. Looked closely at the manifold and EGR arrangement and realized it’s gonna be a real pain in the ass job. Thought about having my mechanic take over. Went Sunday to the trans am/firebird club monthly meeting. Discovered the club prez is now unemployed and may be getting him to do the rest of the teardown, prep and rebuild.

If I’m gonna fork over cash to someone, I’d rather it went to who needs it more, and my regular mechanic is not lacking business.

I took a trip to LA with a Pontiac GP GT [not my T-bird due to an almost bald tire
] and it was fun but the car takes forever to hit the 100mph mark!

I learned 99.7 mph with a 10mbit camera played 1000% fast makes the white lines stand still. What else to think about when driving eternal perfection…foliage is nice this year.
