This Just In: New on the Net

Laughing about drug mule catastrophes isn’t in good taste, but since I’ve never been accused of having good taste, I don’t mind admitting this story gave me a chuckle. My favorite line? "The body was discovered when a parks worker went to remove theabandoned black canvas suitcase near the park’s entrance and thevictim’s leg popped out." And a good morning to you too sir! Anyway, here’s the news:
- More pics of Nissan’s new 370Z have surfaced, and these shots show the redesigned interior. It looks like a pretty slick cockpit, and I particularly like the orange inserts in the door panels. But will a reasonably priced sports car be able to succeed in this market? KGP Photography via Autoblog
- Recently, the General dumped all its plans to advertise during the Oscars, citing that the show is always too long and too boring. Actually, it just doesn’t want to spend the cash right now. But that doesn’t mean there will be a dearth of car ads during Hollywood’s senior prom—Hyundai just bought the air-time. Automotive News
- There hasn’t been much in the way of good news for Michigan residents lately, so when it pops up, I like mention it. The most recent bit? Some stations there have dropped the price of gas to under three bucks a gallon. Detroit News
- A GT-R owner has claimed that Nissan is refusing to fix the already-hosed tranny in his brand new "supercar," claiming that it was driven with the Vehicle Dynamic Control off too many times. If this story turns out to be true, you have to wonder why any enthusiast would buy a car from a bunch of nannies like Nissan. North American GT-R Owners Club via Jalopnik

Well are the R35 owners braking insurance policy by driving the car without dynamic car control??? If so, why the hell would they give them the option to drive without it???

ALSO IN THE NEWS:
GM shares tumble 31 percent to 58-year low
On Thursday, GM’s stock sunk to its lowest in 58 years. There is speculation that the expiration of the 3-week ban on short selling stocks has added to GM’s woes, in addition to the virtual lockup of financing in the market.
GM relies heavily on financing, and if they cannot provide financing, they cannot sell cars. European auto makers are also starting to exhibit slumping sales, and may find themselves in dire straits as well unless conditions improve.
This is shaping up to be a global event, and the U.S. economy is believe it or not in better shape than some other economies around the world, so whether businesses directly rely on the American market won’t necessarily make a difference in their survival or demise.
Here’s to hoping things will turn around as a result of governments’ desperate measures, but it’s looking like the landscape is going to change, folks… no matter what.
