Tiny Hot Rod On eBay: Crosley Panel Wagon

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

I don’t know if this is a sign of the times or what—even hot rods are going micro. The seller doesn’t mention the displacement of this Crosley’s miniature 70 hp four-banger, but claims that the power-to-weight ratio on this tiny ride gives it the power equivalent of a "300 hp sports car." That’d supposedly put it nearly on par with our Bullitt Mustang. Which do you think would win in the quarter-mile?

Crosleys, always were odd cars, even in the old days. I bought mine from a family member few years ago. It used to be a delivery vehicle for TV repair shop. It was sitting in the garage since seventies, so the body is in very good shape, but drivetrain need a lot of work.
By the way Crosley is the first American auto company to use modern Disc Brakes on all four wheels.

Needs a shot of nitrous…
.
Who knows?
.
Maybe he’d have 80 or 90 HP then?!?!?!?!?!
.
This thing is too cool.
.
Wish I had the extra cash…
.
I’d buy it.

imagine if that genius got his hands on a 70hp boxer. Instead of 1000pound “mighty mite”, it would be 2000 pounds and consuming the same…prewar is the keywords. Good things were hidden.

I got same Crosley panel truck sitting in my garage right now, waiting to be restored (mine ‘52 blue). “300 hp sports car” is a BS. Top speed with stock 4 cyl. engine is 72MPH. FYI stock tires are 12″.

Since power : weight is only one variable…
.
Who knows quick it is…
.
We’d need to know a lot more, like gearing, etc…
.
I do like it!
.
It’s a cool little hot rod!
