What Did You Do This Weekend?
By Jen Dunnaway

I went to the Pull A Part up in Arlington, and while I didn’t find anything for my cars, I got to check out some pretty interesting rides. This poor little Corvair, the junkyard staff told me, was a drug seizure—it came in with syringes and baggies under the seat and a trunk full of Snap On tools. One of the perks of working at this yard is that whoever processes the car gets to keep anything they find in it, so some guy walked off with a whole load of Snap On. No word on who got to keep all the smack, though. See more junkyard pics after the jump.
How about you? What did you do this weekend?

I drove down to portland oregon for a crx meet @ portlnd international raceway…. which ended up turning into a honda meet! I tell ya, Seattle I5 is the worst traffic I have seen in my life!

I put a new alternator in the bird and installed new wire sleeves.

Oddly the single most common car there was ’55 Chevy Gassers. There was at least a half dozen there.

Changed the oil in my Sister’s Mazda3 and just a few hours ago had my dad help me with replacing the upper bumpstops on the Impala. Ended up having to get a jackstand and some junk wood to press the new PST Bumptops into the upper control arm. I plan on updating my page when I get the time and find the password.

Cleaned both cars over the weekend only to have them both rained on but, on the flipside I got to hang out with my Wife and kids and enjoy the Corn Maze on a lovely Saturday!!!

Stoped buy ‘daves classic cars’. Another name for a bunch of overpriced piece of shit muscle cars.
At least I found a ’74 ‘bird.

I checked over my EXPs new engine to make sure it is still in good working order, then tried to pull the engine out. I went and bought a 2×4 for the job(don’t have a cherry picker) and got all the accessories and everything needed to pull the engine off, along with almost all the bolts holding the engine to the transmission. I then realized I don’t have a chain or anything that could be used to hold the engine to the 2×4. So, the engine sits in the engine bay with two bolts holding it in and a jack holding it up.
Sad to see that Corvair there, that looks like an easy resto.

What a gorgeous fall day to go to the junk yard! Sounds like a part time second job processing cars could be rewarding, huh?

Washed my car twice. Check the engine twice. Finally cleaned my trunk. Found out my BOSS amp is a goner, but tomorrow I’m heading to Compton or downtown L.A. for a new one and for half the price! Found out the rear left tire valve stem has a leak. Fun weekend!
