Fuego

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Yesterday’s news about the Renault-Nissan bid to acquire 20% of Chrysler got me thinking about Renault. French cars are fairly ridiculous, but I always kind of liked the Fuego. They were sold through AMC dealers in the US from 1982 to 1985, and one of my high school teachers bought one new. But you just don’t see them around much any more. Slobodan’s Fuego is the cleanest example I could find on CarDomain, but he lives in the Republic of Macedonia. Pretty sweet looking ride.

there’s a reason you don’t see many Fuegos on the road – they were Renault Fuegos, did you miss that? For gods sake the name means “fire.”

The Fuego was my favorite of all the older Renault cars. It actually had some styling to it. Wouldn’t have bought one, but at least it wasn’t hard to look at.
