The BNR32 GT-R caused the Porsche/GT-R rivalry.

When it beat the 959′s lap time around the Nurburgring in 1989, you would have thought Reagan had shot Bush in the face, it was THAT BIG.

The feud has never stopped either. The BCNR33 GT-R V-Spec just had to eclipse the 993 Turbo, and the BNR34 GT-R V-Spec II Nur just HAD to kill the 996 Turbo.

It all runs down too the fact that the Japanese are trying to stake a claim, and Porsche is always taking the backburner.

Nissan caused the fight, but when Porsche came out fists a flyin, Nissan stood ground, and won the rounds.

I think it’s only fair that the warranty expires if you race it: otherwise it’s like they’re paying you to run a racing team.

Don’t get me wrong, I hate porsches in general, I just felt the need to point out the fact that while the GT-R is an impressively fast car, the fact that it has GPS in it that has every race track in the world programmed in to it, and tones down the performance when the car ISNT on the track, is ridiculous. The fact that your warranty is automatically voided if your car ever goes in to track mode just adds insult to injury. GT-R owners are being cheated.

What Nissan wanted to do by having a Porsche during tests was just to see how close they were from their target! This case being the 911. Porsche on the other hand felt targeted and put their guard up by making claims that Nissan was cheating with the tires. Then Nissan proved them wrong by saying “The final word from us is that it was done on absolutely standard tires, which are available to customers in the showroom.” Which in lame terms says “Dudes at Porsche quit the bitching, our car came out way better than you expect it to be.” Thus making look Porsche like whinning little girls.
In the comotion of all of this it didn’t help Porsche that this was being printed on most of the important and relevant car magazines and also blogged in every car website.
In my opinion Porsche started making this thing bigger by making false accusations about tires! How about next time just say “Job well done Nissan” At least you will still have dignity by the end of the day.

Porsches and Skylines have always been similarly priced and performance is also usually comparable. It’s kinda inevitable that they would end up with this sort of rivalry.
