Porsche Panamera Prototype Interior is Hot… Not!

By 993C4S

Porsche Purist

For the past day or two there have been pictures of a Porsche Panamera Prototype popping up all over the net. The nearest I can tell is that they started on a Chinese automotive site (at least they watermarked them and took credit for them), they then got posted over at TeamSpeed.com and the linking took off from there.

Forget about the fact that the Panamera is potentially both ugly and expensive, look at this interior.  I’m beyond loyal to Porsche, but even I’m having trouble coming to grips with this. All those buttons look like the Batmobile on steroids.

The guys over at Autoblog think this interior is “caliente” and even go so far as to say it hearkens back to the days of the 993. I’m not one to throw stones, but in this case the target is just too big. I’m so shocked by their analogy, I can’t even come up with a witty response except to say, WHAT???

Look at the pictures below and you be the judge.

What’s amazing to me is how this Porsche Prototype seems to polarize those who view it. There doesn’t seem to be much middle ground between “loving it” or “hating it.”

I for one and holding out hope that I will be pleasantly surprised when the Panamera is finally revealed for the world to see.

It looks like a Virtu phone.
The centre console is so huge you could have a picnic on it.
Imagine how awkward it would be if it was a manual.

the inside looks like a telephone designed for 80 year old people, huge buttons and confusing features that will never be used or figured out; damn, come to think of it, its a perfect porsche/buick, since most of the potential buyers will be that age group, buick has the most to lose here

Would we be saying it is ugly if it came from a different company, lets say a saab?

To me, it looks like a regular old fast back wagon. Interior is pretty rancid though.

Is it just me or does everything but the shifter look HUGE?

I agree it’s ugly and too much! First off the exterior looks like crap. The interior buttons are too many and too big! They split the door locks and window controls so the passenger can have some control over those things, but if you’re a passenger you should not have any control or saying about those things. They also added the seat controls to the mix instead of having them on the side of the seat like most (if not all) luxury/sport cars do!

Are all of this buttons (big buttons at that) neccesary for the driving experience? Do they make life easier? If the answer is not, then take them off!!!

The problem seems that they split the controls of windows and locks to give the passenger some control of those features, but if you’re a passenger you should have no saying on those things. Then instead of having the seat controls on the side of the seats like most luxury/sport cars do they put them on the middle console. That’s why you got so many buttons! Are they neccesary for the driving experience? If not, then take them off!!!
