The Worst Possible Thing That Could Happen To a Corvette

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

How’s this for an identity crisis: a ’57 Bel Air front clip with ’59 Imapala fins, all squashed into a late-model Corvette roadster body. Everything on this bizarre "789" kit by N2A Motors screams "all wrong," but hey, it’s somebody’s idea of beautiful, and considering what I’m into, I’m not going to knock it. But sheesh, there’s gotta be something better you could do with a perfectly good ‘Vette. More views after the jump.

Sharp lines combined with a bubbly front end… good concept of taking classic icons and their signatures and combining them, but the front end could be changed. The flow of the lines from rear to front has a sharp down angle to it keeping that basic wedge design (acutally) beautifully intact, but then it is suddenly bumped into a bubble like front end that slopes back up… not so cool. It needs a front end that keeps that down angle priority.

I love it! If I had the money I would be friving one! It would have a different front clip though.

It’s ok. It certainly has some things going for it, but it is lacking some final polish if you catch my drift. It looks good, but it’s also a little odd.

Put some fuzzy balls on the inside of the windshield, some 100 spoked Dayton wheels, and Hydraulics on it. Then I would drive the wheels off that “one of a kind” creation. Maybe an airbrushed mural to the hood and trunk for some added attention.

if you think this is the worst possible thing that could happen to a vette, then you obviously have not seen the corvette summer car. not only is it the worst looking vette ever created, its the worst CAR ever made!http://www.motherlodecorvettes.com/images/corvette_20summer_20replica.jpg

It looks like a generic car from a video game nuff said.

the reason its called 789 is cause the front looks like a 57 chevy the middle looks like a 58 chevy and the back looks like the 59

From the Back it kinda loosely reminds me of the mid 90′s Batmobile.

this car was actually the prized object in the awful “gone in 60 seconds”-remake-knock-off called “crash and burn”

i thought the car was so grotesque in the movie that it had to be the figment of a cracked out writer / director’s imagination

An example of what you get when you try to mix 3 unmistakebly classic GM rides. Kinda not as good as it was on paper, but not too bad…

One example of what else you could do with a perfectly good vette:

Could do with some smoothing out: the lines are a bit awkward, but other than that, I think it looks AWESOME!

I always liked the “cats-eye” look of the ’59 Impala tail-lights and the vertical fins when everyone else was still doing horizonals! I think that the front-end was a little over done, but once you slap a set of 20′s on the ’59, it actually looks awsome!
I was kind of lost on the ’57 front-end from the pictures here (it looks like and Aston Martin to me) so be sure to check out n2a Motors Website for some better pix. I guess the color of a car can make all of the difference, too.
If GM would have done this on the Camaro/Firebird chassis and priced it around $25,000 (up against the “new” Mustang and the new Challenger, maybe they wouldn’t be trying to merge with Chrysler!

like the concept, and the front looks awsome, but wish they would have chosen a different tail end. the impala tail looks way too bulky in comparison to the rest of the car

It’s a abomination! Maybe I’d like it better with the top down. It looks like something George Jetson would have in his garage.

tHE TOP IS ALL WRONG. It’s the last vestige apparently from the Vette. If one decides to do a total transformation, it makes absolutely no sense at all to hang onto a convertible roof that has absolutely nothing in common with the completely new and different body. I’d say that is the greatest evil of all here.

and yeah, I’m sure this changeover probably has more haters than likers but I’ve seen worse. Not to say I would ever even consider doing that to a vette, especially a late one and yeah I think they’re completely outa their minds… but it could have turned out worse.

Checked out the N2A website, the car actualy looks pretty good with the top down. Its different

very nicely done; most corvette based cars, normally turn me away, but this one is almost right on…a few more inches longer would have made it easier to take, but otherwise, a nice ride

I agree with Tony, its what SEMA is all about. Great body work

I actually really like the 789. Very unique creation with magnificant craftmanship. Perfect ride for SEMA.
