SEMA: Unstoppable One Lap Of America Challenger Shows Up In Mopar Alley
The last time I saw this car, it was a mangled mess. It got driven right up on top of the tire wall in turn 1 at Road America, and it seemed like every panel was bashed in. Still, it was able to drive away under its own power. And then to Detroit. And then to South Bend, Indiana, where it returned. still wrecked, to spin some of the most epic donuts I’d ever seen. Suffice it to say, this Challenger is burly, and I’m not all that surprised to find it here at the SEMA show. It was saved from the crusher to begin with—after serving as an engineering mule, VIN No. 3 was slated to be destroyed. But it was then saved to be entered in the One Lap of America cannonball run as a modern Vanishing Point tribute car. And now, following some obviously slap-dash bodywork—the white paint on the new front clip and fenders doesn’t quite match the rest, and the driver’s door looks to have been bondo’d up pretty good—here it is, a battle-scarred survivor. I’m so happy to see it! More pics after the jump.

The mismatched paint and shoddy body work just give it some character.

No matter how many of these I see, I just don’t get tired of looking at em. Can’t wait to see one in person.
