Stuttgart is Screaming: Phataz Bodyz Porsche
By John Coyle
Editor
If this hideous Porsche is any indication, the people at Phataz Bodyz aren’t any better at designing attractive bodykits than they are at spelling. Mercifully, this piece of crap isn’t finished yet, so there’s some hope that the finished product will never roam the streets inducing nausea. More pics after the jump.

This thing is in all bare metal, no filler, no fiberglass, and it used to be a old 911 not a Cayman, fooled you all. Hey 7urtle, hows your porsche coming along? All hand formed and finished custom panels, and left bare for all to see. It’s a showcase of what can be done by someone who has the skill and experience to build show winning concours exotics, scratchbuilt award winning custom harleys and everything in between. Sure, he coulda built something that everyone woulda liked, followed all the trends, just made it a little different to the last guy, a bit more “porsche”, played it safe, more fast an furious or need for speed. No, instead its got you all talking, he did his own thing, did it different, made a statement with a showcase.and all in METAL.

I happened to see this car at Sema. I was very impressed with the builders skills at hand forming metal. In my 35 years in the trade i’ve never seen workmanship of this level. The fact that it is all built, hand formed for flat sheet and i mean every single panel is nothing short of amazing!!

Just to clear things up again, this car is not a Cayman, it is an early 911 restyled using Cayman styling cues. I actually like the look except for the rear deck cover, and thats cause it covers a dirty great big supercharger mounted on top of the engine. And if yuo look closely you can see that the wheels are covered in plastic to protect them duing shipping. The car was built in New Zealand and shipped at the builders cost to SEMA, I am sure there are worse looking cars out there.

ok honestly my opinion on the porsche is that yes it has some errors with the rear with the two different levels of the metal on the trunk deck and the weird scoop, as for the cowl hood and the aerodynamics of the front i like how it turned out as the car is all hand crafted metal which is very difficult sometimes not to mention they started with a car so beautiful from the manufacture that its hard to make it any better with aftermarket peices but if they go change as they progress it could be one of the most beautiful Porsche Caymen S that anyone has seen its a work in progress let the project be finsihed before you opinionate their work.

Everyone complaining about it being ugly, which it is, didn’t say anything about the craftsmanship. Just because it’s built good doesn’t mean it can’t be ugly too.

Many thanks to Stirlingmac for you inlighten input!! you shed much needed light on what I was going to say was an insult to the Porsche name, but after reading your comment I have been swayed to see the true beauty that lives within! Intresting!! veddy intresting! Weird thing is the body work makes it look a lot shorter then the off the floor model.

For all you experts out there that car is hand made , the “bodykit” is all hand formed metal. The cowl on the rear is to cover a supercharger. It was build to show the abilities of two very talented metalshapers. There is no fibreglass, filler or fluff to hide the bodywork it is raw steel. No one noticed the roof chop or piecut front guards, to my eyes the workmanship is stunning. Styling is a matter of opinion at the best of times but you cannot be critical of the standard of metalshaping.

Honestly, I think this car would look perfect in a futuristic world where robots dream of electric sheep, but I absolutely hate whatever is sticking out of the back of the car on the lid. I somewhat like where this car might be heading, but hate where it will end up. (If you understand what I’m saying)

That poor car… On the bright side, at least for me… The extra weight of that body kit would allow me to kill it in a race with my 135hp Miata. Then again, would it even be something to be proud of?

I love the washing machine installed on the rear end, as well as the disappearing roof scoop. Sweet.

I’m trying to figure out why a rear engined car needs a cowl hood. The only thing I can think of is that it adds to the overall theme of the car, ugly.

that hideous scoop ruins it. Get rid of that and make the back one flush piece and it might look o.k.

Is that a copy machine on the back of the car? I think the boys need to cut their losses and sell this one off for parts.
