Totally Trick: GLK Rock Crawler

This year, Mercedes-Benz has sponsored the GLK Tuner Challenge, which asked four builders to customize its new GLK-Class SUV. Now, I’ve only seen one of them personally, and while I realize it’s not particularly fair, I have to say that I’ve already found my favorite. Why exactly? Well, Ontario’s Legendary Motorcar Company’s effort is designed to be skated on. Seriously! It’s got a launch ramp on the nose, the roof is reinforced with a panel so you can ride across it, and there are even rails that unfold from the sides for practicing 50/50s! The finishing touch? There’s winch on the front that’ll pull you up to attack speed! Yes! Doesn’t that sound like a great way to get hurt? The GLK Rock Crawler is also designed to be used for snowboarding and wakeboarding, but since I still ride my deck to work regularly, the skating possibilities were what made me totally freak out. I’ll be profiling the other Tuner Challenge entries tomorrow, and when I’m done, I’ll also give you all the info on how you can vote for your favorite. For now, check out three more pics of the Rock Crawler after the jump.

I know it is a show car but to call that thing a rock crawler is just plain dumb. Sure you might be able to take it off road, and sure there may be some rocks to drive over but this thing is a crawler in name only. The guys who made this thing might want to skate on over to the news stand and check out some of the 4×4 mags to see just how much growing this GLK needs to do before it can be called a rock crawler.

Perhaps they should have called it the Extreme Sports GLK. The article only talked about it’s skate, snow and wake use. If it has other mods, those would be good addition to the article. Otherwise, it just looks like a GLK with some silly bolt on parts and a fancy paint job.

My son has one of these grinch winches and he loves it.
It is unbelievable! This saves mom the money from having to buy a boat!! All of his friends spend hours on this thing! Best idea I have ever seen.

Thanks Distortion Boarding!

That’s a sick set-up, with the Distortion Boarding GRINCH WINCH on the car.
The grinch is a great tool for any boarding application.

I wonder if the windshield is strong enough if the skater lets go of the winch cable prematurely. Can you say “world of hurt”?
