Well, we all know he doesn’t know how to time a motor, lol.

Are the majority of you people blind? Ok yes i’m sure the car was a very difficult build and yes it is very creative but that doesn’t take away from the fact that looking at it makes me want to puke.

This car, like allot of others is ‘ art’ and as such subject to personal opinion.. how they express that opinion is up to them, How YOU , ( the ‘respondees’ of this thread ), choose to reply directly reflects both your own intelligence and social skills.. some of you are truly in the neibourhood of homo erectus for social and metal fitness..

As a Designer and Fabricator of vehicles myself, I think it’s UGLY, not Gumpert Apollo ugly,( that is functional hard core sexy ), but Dali meets a 4 year old ugly. As a demonstration of skill and execution in build it’s IS good.. but that’s about all, from my point of view anyway

i think this car is awsome. the wheels are great and those blowers are sick. if i was a little kid and some asked me what kind of car i would own when i got older i would say this one. WOW!!!!!! even if this car was givin to me i wouldnt sell it. id drive the hell out of it. I love this thing!

I hope the commentator lost his job. Althrough the years cars have been built as a vision of things to come. The first airplane looks nothing like the Stealth Bomber, but through ideas and futuristic models we have the Stealth today. The designer had a vision and put it to work. I doubt if the commentator has ever even changed his own oil. The commentator needs to get a real job, he’s not good at running his mouth about someone else’s creative ability.

well i concur with most of the bloggers on here and im about 95% sure that the commentator for this video doesn’t have a job anymore because of how negative he was and its been said a million times but ill say it again….. that car was ONE idea out of infinite! You know youll never make anything of your self until you actually make something solid that people can see….. again its not like its a concept from ford its just an eye catcher! So i give it a 10 for UNIQUENESS.

Nov 15, 2008 at 5:57 pm

the car and work looks great….BUT if it’s not drivable then it’s a POS. Why built it if you can’t drive it and show it off on the streets with all that HP that they claim they have on there……Retards making these concept WANNA BE cars, throwing their money away into them should give me their money so I can actually put it to good use and invest it in my truck and actually drive it to shows around the Nation and show it off…..

lol@u
Nov 15, 2008 at 5:39 pm

Thanks Mike. That POS is the most hideous thing from outta the anus of GAS. The same GAS that turned the funny and cool Pimp My Ride into a retardathon. I can’t believe all these idiots on here that say “that shit look cool yo”. That shit looks straight retarded. What a joke.

I would agree that this car has a LOT of things that have to be taken in all at once, but this is a SHOW and there are 100′s of booths that everyone has to compete for in order to get people there. So the solution would be to make it extreme; make it stand out. Seems like a fair thought to me. It’s a show, so show what you DID, not show what you and everyone else there CAN do. I like to think that the successful people in life are those who have done something rather than become a perpetual “potential”.

As for the design, I think it lives up to its namesake. A scythe is a formidable tool/weapon used to cut things down. Bring pop-culture into the mix and the first thing that people think of is the Grim Reaper. The front looks like a hood for the grille and from the sides, the body resembles that of a cloak covering the vehicle and just following what is under it. The wheels should be self explanatory. If one can’t make the connection between its name and the design, then they should start exercising that lump between their ears.

I don’t think this is a study of study of anything, automotive or otherwise, but rather a statement saying, how extreme can you go? You can leave “automotive” lines, but then so can everyone else.

I love it because in terms of “lines”, “art” or whatever, the rules are broken and as far as I can see, the designers know the whole point, “why”. That is what sets it apart. In any sort of thing- business, art, whatever- you’ll find that the most successful people are those who go against the grain because as many will see what is happening as a “WTF” moment. Later on, they are regarded as genius The point is this: “If you are not willing to go (beyond just thinking) outside the box, then why the heck do you care?”

Nov 15, 2008 at 10:18 am

well, the car is nice and i like it and how ever playing that so call hating game. will get with the program. you can’t build on like that or come with the same idea. i repeat you can build one of these car so stop hating. i know if they gave it you for free you take it and go show off to your friends. stupid haters, i like that car so much that if i had money that i will stop riding my 07 528i. the concept of this car is to make it more of the upcoming future cars however, only one this i dislike, there is not much ground clearance. so this car can’t be driven in a normal city road but over all it nice and i like it, nice job to who ever built it. good luck and keep up the good work.

Nov 15, 2008 at 7:07 am

It’s funny because everyone who disrespects this car makes me laugh. Honestly I do not see a single one of you creating a concept car even close to be as innovative as this particular vehicle. I’d definitely buy one just because there’s literally nothing around like it so if you’d own one of these, you stand out from the average group of drivers in your area.

Ummm…. sorry, goober should have moved on instead of wasting his time in one booth. I have seen other pics of other SEMA booths. This one caught my eye. I would put up some cash just to have one. Of course, I would have to have cash first! I would buy this over a new vette, lambo, or just about anything. This would be sweet because no one else has one.

Robmcfee – You shouldnt post comments on a blog if you dont know the facts. PLEASE dont make anymore comment unless you ACTUALLY know what you are talking about.

THIS IS NOT A FORD MOTOR COMPANY CONCEPT CAR. THEY DID NOT FUND THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS A CONCEPT FROM GALPIN AUTO SPORTS. FORD JUST USED IT AT SEMA AS A DISPLAY VEHICLE TO BRING SOME ADDTIONAL ATTENTION TO THERE BOOTH.

Nov 14, 2008 at 10:44 pm

I’ve noticed a lot of negative speak on a lot of the cardomain SEMA blog since day one. If you’re a part of an automotive community why are you taking the time and bandwidth to hate on something just because you don’t like it. It’s upsetting that the people who should be in charge of keeping the peace within a community are projecting so much negativity to its members. I saw this thing in person this year and I thought it was an interesting extension of creativity. I might not be prone to driving it around town, but the concept and build were really interesting to watch. This kind of attitude makes me want to unsubscribe from the cardomain newsletter.

Nov 14, 2008 at 10:35 pm

I can appreciate the work that went into the car, the paint seems well-done, but the concepts and styling are ridiculous. Not to say that concept cars are all stupid, a lot of them pave the way for cool future production cars. One of the things I noticed was that there’s about .2 inches of clearance around the tires, either you’ll rub the wheel wells or have to have an incredibly tight suspension to keep the tires from traveling up and down too much, either way its not a street car at all. Especially since the stupid-looking front bumper is so low it will bottom out and probably break if you touch a curb or driveway. Also the interior is not inviting at all, those seats look about as comfortable as a metal lawn chair.

Guy
Nov 14, 2008 at 8:43 pm

So strange and aggressive- I think I like it. I wouldn’t really like looking at the superchargers while driving, though. The front end and headlights are great. Make the running gear similar to the Corvette- 500 hp or so with a 6 speed manual trans. I’d drive one.

I don’t know what it is.But it is pretty Wicked!
My mother always said if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything.Well I don’t totally agree with that. But some people are just rude and negative.
It looks pretty cool.I would drive it with pride!
If it runs as mean as it looks. It would be a blast to drive!

This car / thing is congruent with Ford head-in-the-ass attitude towards their consumers.
The only way American companies seem to care about their audience is when they are about to be extinct.
Other car companies seem to think ahead, and the sales are respectively represented so.
This car is a representation of Ford’s thinking, nad I think it’s a deterrent to their brand. It’s ass-backwards.
How about stop wasting your money?
How much was wasted on this hunk of shit? How about exercising your philanthropism instead of producing more useless waste you idiots. Who is in charge over there? Holy fuck!

I’m sad to say it will be the end of American car companies as we know it. this “We think we know our consumers” attitude.

Assumptions will be the end of you. Spend money on research, stop wasting money assholes.

HAHAHA awesome response…
You obviously have no idea what a bigot even is so calm down tiger tits
A bigot is simply someone with a strong personal opinion towards something. Someone who refuses to change. It wasn’t an insult. It was a statement. Everyone is strongly opinioned about “certain” things. Myself included, but i appreciate all custom works. Should look how it was used in the context of the statement before you throw a tantrum. You obviously don’t care how people view you, which given your job is appropriate. But having said that whenever you comment you do sound like a jack ass

Mike
Nov 13, 2008 at 4:17 pm

“even if your a bigot like Mike”…
-
Oh this is just priceless. I give an opinion and I’m a bigot? Are you for real? Let me get this straight, you’ve never said anything was ugly, you’ve never made a comment about a car, person or anything for that matter, you love everything and have no outspoken voice because you are afraid of what people will say… is that?
-
Yet you have no problem calling me a bigot because I made some comments about a car. Dude, get off your high horse and and grow a set of balls you wuss.

wierd set of comments on this post, especially for a car that is like one already said to be a piece of art. and it should be looked at that way. NOT as a everyday drive! “unpractical, uncomfortable” NO SH!T, not supposed to be. niether is my r6 but i love it anyway. and the fact that it drive, an drives well is pretty cool. one thing everyone has to agree on even if your a bigot like Mike, that if you saw this driving down the road or in a lot it would get more attention than 98% of the cars out there. even if you were thinkin “WTF is that thing”

Anonymous

Let me just put it this way…Wow. Not just the car but what was said about it. I think its nice but to hear him rag on it like that is just funny. To each his own thats what I say and thats what any one who likes cars can understand. I like anything well done, even if its not my taste

I think it is beautiful. Reminds me of my old HotWheels collection. It took somebody a long time to do all that body work and they deserved to have it in the Ford Booth. Also has a little modern day Rat-Fink in it.

after hearing your gibberish about the car it made me think that there must of been a booth giving away free drinks of (Hater-ade) and the you taped it then edited it with you making fun of it !!! why didn’t you say all that nonsense about it in the open ….. hmmmmmmm plz man grow up dam … its a fucking car from someones imagination that obviously has money to spend on it personally i think its ok it looks different kinda like a hot-wheels car look to it

Kbreeze
Nov 12, 2008 at 11:26 pm

Most of the commentary in the video, as well as most of the comments here are moronic and ignorant. You people think this car was meant to be practical or conforming? Its meant to be unusual and extreme…it’s meant to be an interesting and original work of art. It may not float your boat but the trash talking is disrespectful and childish, especially considering the work that went into it. Personally I think it’s pretty damn cool.

Zee
Nov 12, 2008 at 9:34 pm

Wow this has gotten out of hand….
Let me clear up some things….
Who ever wrote that the car doesn’t even drive needs to ask the rights people….
YES the car does drive and it drives well. The owner of galpin auto sports did not want to build a “Prop Car” but a real working and driving concept.
I drove it around Las Vegas before the SEMA show for a few hours. And also locally in LA.
You will all get a chance to see it drive on discovery channel later this month.
As far as the person who said something about ground clearance? Come on you shouldn’t be on a blog if you don’t know anything about cars… It has full air ride suspension allowing the car to lift from 0 to 8 inches. The pictures you’ve seen from SEMA are of the car in “SHOW Mode” which is the tires tucked into the fender. A full scale model of the car was constructed out of clay and then fiberglass molds were made for each body panel. The entire body of this car weighs 300 lbs. and doesn’t not have any major body filler on it.

Tom
Nov 12, 2008 at 7:22 pm

i want to do videos like this for a living. there are so many cars out there IN PRODUCTION that shouldnt have ever been drawn up. and when they were drawn the person who designed it shouldve been smacked. I take it back, I want a job smacking people whenever they design something this terrible.

8ball of cocaine..HA

Javier
Nov 12, 2008 at 4:39 pm

I just read another post that said this car used to be a Mustang. As an owner of many Mustangs, including one now, I am now completely insulted that a Mustang was wasted to be turned into this. This is the equivalent to automotive sacrilege. I will take a bone stock Mustang over this car any day; all day.

Javier
Nov 12, 2008 at 4:31 pm

“They did an 8-ball of cocaine and then designed this car” HAHAHAHAHA! #1, hilarious. #2, it’s all true. I am a life-long Ford fan, but this car is an atrocity. I, for one, wouldn’t piss on it if it was on fire with a naked & horny Eva Longoria inside of it. The engine components popping out of the hood look ridiculous, the wheels look some some 80′s-rejects with a huge lip on it, the interior looks uncomfortable and impractical, and it is way too low to the ground to actually be driven. The car is a waste of time, energy, and money. May God have mercy on the souls who made this thing, and even more mercy on which ever corporate-America dumb-ass at Ford decided that it was a good idea to display this eyesore. It is the closest thing I have seen to a visual laxative in my life.

Mike
Nov 12, 2008 at 2:38 pm

Ok… People, you really should go back and re-read what I wrote:
“Can I appreciate the amount of effort in this car? No question, I have no doubt there were hundreds upon hundreds of hours in this thing” OR “I think the beauty of SEMA is that what is displayed there can give people ideas, the cars make them think and wonder, “what if?”
-
I understand exactly what SEMA is about, the difference is I was there to give my opinions about everything and post them for you guys to read and view, which is exactly what you are doing so don’t bitch at me for doing my job. I just love the fact that everyone is all of a sudden so PC about everything, when did this bullsh*t start? When did people become afraid to voice their opinions?
-
To those who ask if I have the skill to build this… nope absolutely not, but what does that have to do with anything? I don’t have the skill to build a Pontiac Aztek either but that doesn’t change the fact it’s an ugly friggin’ car.
-
The long and short of it is, if you have an opinion good or bad then voice it, that’s the beauty of a site like Cardomain.com – it was created for people to come, discuss and talk about cars. Also, do you guys REALLY think that this car wasn’t going to get talked about in a negative way, because if you did you were kidding yourselves.
-
As for this car getting “BUZZ”… well then hell, God bless, I hope this post keeps going so that the guys at Galpin get some business off this thing.

Chuck
Nov 12, 2008 at 3:43 am

First off- Why the hell is everyone bitching like a bunch of 13 year old school girls? What the hell?
Second- I agree with mike. The seat are junk. If someone were to hit that car in an accident or they hit someone else, the seats would probably break. Thus, high probability of fatality. There is no ground clearance, so if you drive it on any street in the U.S. the front end and any other end is gonna be trashed. I actually for some dumb reason like the wheels. They need to be smaller. I really want to know whats under the hood. They had to put 2 superchargers on it so it would have enough power to get the wheels to turn. They’re HUGE! lol
Overall, the car is certainly an eye catcher and there is a hell of alot of man hours and money in that clip. I give it 3* just because of the bodywork. They did an excellent job on the fab. work (as best as I could see).

Nov 12, 2008 at 1:15 am

Okay, Mike says that the Buzz about this car was not a Good Buzz. Is there such a thing? I mean, so far this car has gotten more attention then any other car at SEMA. The creators made it stand out at a show where the competition is extremely high. If you don’t care for the car, then that is your personal opinion, just don’t go bashing on others for thinking outside the box. Who is to say that this car didn’t spark new ideas? Mike, I’d like to see if you had the talent to pull something like this off. Maybe not this same style, but the skills to craft something of this complexity.

Cory
Nov 12, 2008 at 1:01 am

Wow, Mr. Angry doesn’t get it. Sema is a show to bring out some crazy ideas. They don’t have to be practical, they just have to be new. If you don’t like it, cool, but way to bitch about it. haha. i know girls on their periods who don’t bitch that much

first of all, i got to give respect to mike for actually voicing a real opinion, and not just going yb what others think, i’ve seen people that hate a car or love it, then see others disagree and then they change their opinions to go along with everyone else, good ojb mike for backing up and expressing your opinion,
for the designer and builder of this car, good job i love the front end on it, not so much the back but thats just me.. i’m sure there are people who love it so good job and amazing exectuion of the design, i will never have the skill to create a car a scrazy as this, i give you huge respect for creating such a wild custom, i dont like the rear style, but i absolutly love the creativity and build quality

JR
Nov 11, 2008 at 11:38 pm

Hey i totally agree! There is nothing about that car that makes me want to drive it. It looks sickening and the “twin supercharged” engine most likely doesn’t even run. I would be caught dead in that car.

Mike
Nov 11, 2008 at 10:33 pm

Wow! Bitch… thats awesome!

Now listen up you Sally – the beauty of a blog is that it’s one persons opinion on a subject, whether it be cars, trucks or keyboard commando’s like yourself. If you don’t like my Dodge’s then say what you will about them, I built them for me, not you so your opinion therefore doesn’t matter.

Also, why should I give respect to something I don’t care for? Where’s the logic in that? I think they put a lot of time and effort into this car and it shows, but I don’t like the execution. Some may, but I don’t.

This is my favorite part of your post though: “GIVE RESPECT TO EARN RESPECT!”… who are you? Tony Robbins.. give it a rest.

Mike
Nov 11, 2008 at 8:12 pm

First off – Steve: You’re right, I know nothing about custom cars whatsoever… in fact I hate them all… there, you happy now?

Zee – Yes, there was a buzz about the car, no question, but it wasn’t a good buzz. My question to you is why didn’t you really publicize the reasoning behind why the car was built? Can I appreciate the amount of effort in this car? No question, I have no doubt there were hundreds upon hundreds of hours in this thing, but was any part of it truly functional? I think the beauty of SEMA is that what is displayed there can give people ideas, the cars make them think and wonder, “what if?”…

I go with design, execution and functionality and they all have to work in unison with each other. With your car I just wasn’t quite feeling it. It’s an opinion and as I am sure you know, this car has generated a lot them. I also believe that any car thats brought to SEMA by the aftermarket should be a fully functional, but that’s just me. It’s just a shame that so very few of them are.

steve
Nov 11, 2008 at 7:21 pm

This guy is a idiot…he does not know anything about custom cars…he should go back to talking about new completely stock vehicles.

Zee
Nov 11, 2008 at 7:03 pm

Well, let me start off by saying everyone has there opinion. But since I was the lead builder let me set the record straight. The idea behind the car was not to follow the design theme of a “Typical Concept” Car. We did exactly the opposite. This was to following the idea of a modern day Ed Roth car. Ed Newton who designed cars for Roth in the 60′s was the primary designer of the exterior along with Beau Boeckmann and myself. The car was built from scratch in house at Galpin Auto Sports and really was a product to showcase the talents that work for us. If you cant appreciate the amount of work and creativity that goes into something like this then…Your probably not a true car guy or girl. I would like to thank Car Domain and “Mike” the narrator of this video, because you helped us accomplish what we set out to do…Creating a buzz about the design of this car.

Nov 11, 2008 at 3:59 pm

Ok…so yea, this video has me LAUGHING hysterically. I agree 100% with Mike, and even more, i think I MAY have came up with an answer as to why. Ford put it in their booth to make their cars look good. That’s the ONLY reason you would have a vehicle THIS hideous in your booth at SEMA. A place where cars are suppose to look, oh yeah, GOOD!!

It will turn heads and get noticed. It’s like a hot wheels car. I think the person who spewed his comments on the video is off the mark. This is SEMA. You expect wild and this is definitely that. It’ll get more attention that he ever will. LOL.

Well I don’t share the overly-cooked version of Mr. Angry’s analogy, it’s just a bunch of fiberglass that looks like it was done for a movie. Ford definitely shouldn’t have put it in their booth, and the twin superchargers should be in a Ford Focus or something. But nice try.

most of the cars at sema cant be driven under it own power, there is probably a fake engine in there with those superchargers attached to them.

I disagree Hypno. This thing is ugly. However, you can’t deny if driven down the street that this would turn a lot of heads. Usually when you build something like this you try and hide so much. Why would you stick the Superchargers outside of the engine bay?
And how long before you step on or trip on one of those hooky things…

I think it’s awesome. How anyone can say that this car is not a stylistic exercise is beyond me. I think the guy that made this video should be delegated to covering HIN and DUB shows only. Shows where the cars on display are modified versions of “regular” cars and are more low key. Clearly he is unable to comprehend the conceptual and artistic aspect that SEMA is known for. CarDomain staff just do not seem to be able to appreciate anything outside the box, and with that attitude, SEMA is NOT the place for you.
