FUNNY THAT 4RUNNER GUYS EVEN THINK THEY CAN COMPARE TO A WRANGLER.
YOU SHOULD SEE THESE GUYS TRY OFFROADING..PITIFUL IT WOULD BE HILARIOUS IF THEY EVEN TRIED TO ATTEMPT A JEEP TRAIL EVEN STOCK VS STOCK.

Gonna have to go with the Jeep on this one. Jeep has both straight axles front and rear, and a removeable top, along with 4 doors and seating for 5 with great luggage space. Yes, I own a 4Runner, but it’s a 1st gen.

ive owned plenty of jeeps,and they are not bought but rather built(by you) especialy if you want to go off road…crysler is the biggest peice of sh##t car company out there…i predict they will be out of buisness within 10 years…so go ahead and buy a jeep you will ony be able to buy aftermarket parts for it soon enough…

Jeep all the way. I’m not worried about picking up groceries or getting the poodle from the dog groomers. I’m interested in off road and off road only. Jeep wins hands down…no contest.

Have you taken a Toyota off-road lately? Do you keep the rattles issues for yourself? Not to mention the body stress point loosening? The oversized tires that make it look rugged but will break an axle in the rough? A 4.88 differential ratio that will explode a pinion gear? Suggestions: buy an african version free of Jeep patends and ban in the USA.

History tells us that the first Toyota car was based on the 1936 Chrysler AirFlow. Their WWII ships based on the German warships. The Subaru Boxer engine based on Porsche design. Mazda rotary engine on german Wankel. Honda motorcycles on flat twin BMW engine.Today s bike on Harley’s.Lexus on Mercedes standard. How close do we have to get to see brandnames badges! How long will the insult to our intelligence last? A Jeep is not an on-road standard. But they have succeeded to master an archaic design: solid axle control and drivability. The most patended brand on the road! A 2009 Wrangler is the answer.

First, the FJ in 1954 was a clone of the Jeep design. In 1986 the 4Runner came with IFS and disclalified itself as an off-roader. No articulation, prone to rollover, no momentum and axle breakage. The Toyota high stance however makes a Cherokee look like a grocery getter. Here in Canada, most 4Runner of the early 90′s are wreck because of poor body structure and rust. The 2.2 is knowed to blow heads and the V6 to oil starved in off-camber situation. Suspension parts are thinny and will not suffer bad roads for long. I have purchased my WJ on the asumption that the body structure was by 60% stronger than the competition. Bottom line: After ten years of torture, it rides like new and not affraid of potholes at all.

My 97 4-runner has 305k miles on it, and is still runnin, jeep cant beat that!

Had a 07 Jeep was a piece of shit. Had electrical and computer issues lived in the shop. Will never buy another Chrysler product. Now have a 4runner sport and its hands down better then anything jeep makes. Also much better gas mileage.
