Camaro Convertible Delayed
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
First Dodge canceled the Challenger convertible, and now it looks like Chevy is gonna delay the Camaro convertible until GM figures out a way to stabilize their financial situation. Which, obviously, sucks. Motor Trend via Jalopnik.

Listen, part of the reason I think GM is in this mess is they can’t seem to pull the trigger on the Camaro. They seem to want it to be perfect and there is no such thng. Look how they changed it a little every year from 67 through 69 then one more change and slowed down a bit. Just get it out there with the convertible too and start taking some of the sales the Mustang and Challenger and Charger have been getting. The mustang has been taking advantage of the pony car vacuum for years. Yes, it is amazing the Challenger and Charger just popped out without so much hoopla and anticipation. Either GM is being sneaky stupid or they have their head up their nether regions. They Chevy fans will love it no matter what. It will also be just as popular at the car rental agencies as the stang but not if they go under doing styling and market studies. One more thing just think of the firebird version too, just a diferent grille and tail panel and bob’s your uncle a Trans Am is ont the way! One more thing. I think Chrysler should make the Hemi Cuda even without a Plymouth division. Soon it will be 1969 all over again. I was like everyone else thinking these guys will make a retro car with all the best of the pony era and then run out of steam. Look at Mustang 05 through 09 all great cars with just a little fiddling and then bang they come out with a new 10 with a little update maybe the rear quarter hip can be emphasized a 69 hood hump the aftermarket is coming out with and it is time for another shaker scooped Mach 1 again and a Boss 302 with the 4.6 punched out to 5 liters and lowered for track duty. Enough of my 2 cents. – Nick

Even if their corperate leadership could be better (I wouldn’t argue with that) we NEED for GM to continue.
-
I think it would be common sense on their part to lop off lines that aren’t making money and have poor prospects. I don’t see people breaking down the doors to buy Hummers.
-
GM’s leadership, if they want our help and they definitely do – and we the taxpayers will be footing the bill – well they better start showing that they intend to improve their situation before the multibillion $$$ care package reaches their door.
-
If they don’t, it will clearly be a poorly-run company holding jobs for ransome.
-
As far as the convertible Camaro is concerned, how much effort does it take to make a convertible? I know the frame would have to be reinforced and some modifications made to house the roof but come on now… it’s not like they’re totally redesigning the car. If the convertibe can help boost Camaro sales, what the hell are they waiting for?

GM, you should have listen to jerry york from kerkioan group about selling division hummer , saab and so on and you will not be in bad shape as today. Now look at yourself. You expect us to show pity?
