XJS With Chevy 400 Engine
By John Coyle

So this isn’t the coolest video I’ve ever seen, but I’m intrigued by the whole XJS/400 swap, and I’m hoping joecat will build a ride page, or at least post a clip of the engine bay. In the meantime, I think those racing stripes look awesome! After I get my XJ6 done—which will probably never happen, but still—I’ve harbored some fantasies about getting an XJS and doing a 350 swap on it. My Kitty is pretty quick, but I’ve wondered what it would feel like to have the same drivetrain in a sportier body style. Something tells me it’d be a blast…

Lmao. I kept waiting for him to do a burnout, or rev the engine or something, then he just kinda creeps into the garage. I like that the camera guy asks “How’d it drive” and he refuses to answer. He just ignores him and pulls into the garage…. mabe it didn’t drive so good yet?

hey there is one of these rolling around my town with a 350 sbc in it and it look like it belongs i think its a cool idea. this guy says it pushes it like a camero but can hold you in the seat for ever. i will get pics of it later on and shoot them up to you guys. i love it and wish i had the time and money to put a 572 or other big block into one cool styles with a good engine best of both worlds

Hey Dave,
.
The cars are lighter and the balance is better with the 400, and the Chevy motor is also more powerful than the stock V12. Then there’s the maintenance issue…

didnt these cars come with either a straight 6, or v12 from the factory, i think id rather build up the jag v12 than put a chevy 400 in it.
