The General Makes its Case for the Bailout

By John Coyle

It looks like most of the public is behind the bailing out the Big Three, but GM isn’t taking any chances. The General has just released this clip, which lays out its case for the $25 billion dollar cash infusion, and it makes things look pretty dire. Now, given the make-up of the Hill, I don’t see any help for Detroit passing this year, but I think that America’s automakers will eventually get some cash from Uncle Sam. Of course, I sincerely hope that there will be some conditions attached to the money—that means no million dollar executive bonuses, Ma Mopar—so it doesn’t become a total SNAFU like the bank bailout. But that’s just me. Think this clip is scary enough?

as much as this movie is convincing, there is still no guarantee that the Detroit 3 will benefit from this bailout loan. I would love for them to continue (although i dont care if GM goes bust) but after all they are a company, the way to get out of this mess is to produce a product that consumers would want.

It kinda gives you chills good job with the movie GM maybe you should go into Hollywood, no really people need to realize THE U.S. NEEDS THE DETROIT THREE,people complain on how we outsource or how the U.S. spends too much money on other countries, just like GM said our gov’t will have to rely on other counries for vehicles. This is the key word that even GM said at the end of the clip LOAN it’s a LOAN people how many of you have loans. Whether you bleed Ford blue, your a HEMI/MOPAR fan or you would rather go by Mr./Mrs.Goodwrench. Sit back and realize they go a part of you will be lost too. I should become a poet!

I’ll view the video later. Don’t have to see it to know how screwed up things are, and that nonexistence is not an option for our auto industry.

Meaningful Conditions BETTER come with the cash and
I better not hear of Execs going on a $400,000 junket on taxpayer money less than a week later.

We need to make this happen. It would negatively impact way to many people. This may have been put together by GM, but it is the bare facts! Make the loan happen now!

I don’t know what it’s like in your area, but I haven’t talked to anyone who is in favor of bailing them out.
Who won’t we be able to justify bailing out?
