What Do You Think of the 2010 Mustang?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Ford revealed the 2010 Mustang last night after releasing a barrage of teasers over the last month or so. I don’t know, what do you think? I’m not wild about the changes. I’m kind of thinking it makes the 2005-2009 an instant classic. A bunch more pics at Jalopnik.

I prefer the front/rear light treatment and more defined fender treatment around the wheels on current ‘05-’09 mustang.
I think the ‘10 interior is dull as well compared to the ‘05-’09. The gauges are decent but not the interior overall. Too spartan and dull. This is not a Jeep.
I do like the overall silouhette of the ‘10. Would like the see a better excecution on the rear corner windows. Maybe make the bigger and bring it to a point toward the rear?
Overall I think the 2010 looks like a redesign idea that should have stayed in the “Work in Progress” pile. A step back as far as I’m concerned.

I watched the special last night on SPEED CHANNEL it was pretty good lot of racing and automotive icons were on, the rear looks bulky in pics but when you see it on TV it looks pretty good and they said once they start the North American Auto shows there will be another surprise with the Mustang.

I am liking the rear quarters with the little kick they added on top.

Looks awesome, much more muscular and aggressive. Ford just really needs to update the engines and rear suspension, to truly compete with the Challenger and Camaro. If they can keep the Mustang smaller and lighter, with equal power, compared to the competition. The Mustang should continue to hold the pony car crown.
I’m really looking forward to the EcoBoost V6, 5.0L V8, and 6.2L V8 engines.

Everything looks pretty good to me except the rear end treatment. Maybe I just need to see it in person.

I think it looks good. Ford just being Ford, no over-the-top redesign. Check out my photoshopped 2010 Mustang on deviant art http://r1cario.deviantart.com/

I was actually expecting a new style altogether, not another restyle of the current model. I think that look is getting old already, and it doesn’t help that all the new mustangs seem to hugely underpowered for a car with such a great history.

I think it looks a lot more athletic than the current model. The 05-09’s look great in photos, but in reality they look and feel bloated and fat. But then, I was a bigger fan of the pre-04 generation.

My verdict: sleeker, but without overdoing it. Still, not as muscley as the previous model, but still they look good and they’ll sell, which is the main thing right now.

It looks better (except for the rear end) than the current model but the small increase in power is disappointing. I will still put it in third place behind the challenger and camaro.

Forgot how to type there for a second, it looks good and more aggressive than the previous one. The whole thing is that the design is “retro” which doen’t mean it is remake it’s just uses older design elements to make it look like older styling, obvious, but see this is where Dodge and Chevy went wrong. Don’t get me wrong Dodge did a good job with the Charger but the Challenger and Chevy Camaro look like Chevy took a ‘65 Camaro to the plastic surgeon and order a bunch of botox. In Dodge’s case it looks like the had a really good design then took it to the local gas station and stuck the Air Compressor hose onto the gas tank and watch the body panels blow up until it looked like, well what it looks like now. Still if I had a choice 1.Mustang 2.Charger 3.Challenger 4.Camaro.

Should have kept the Rear the same, looks too importish now in the back. Too bad…. Oh well the Camaro will stomp it in sales if GM ever starts producing them.

so heres a question, will ford keep the shelby gt500 for 2010? or will 2009 be the last year?

I’m on the fence, really. Its just a refresh, and doesnt deserve all the “teaser” hype that came along with it. Its a good looking car, and I like it better than the challenger. Yes, I said it.

That mustang looks nice. It sticks to the classic reintroduction type but adds some new flavor. It might appeal to more people now.

I am a Ford fan, but I never really cared for the Mustang after 1969. Ford had a great thing going with the reintroduction of the Mustang, but from the looks of it, they are messing with the appearance of it too much…..just like in the ’70’s and 80’s.
To bad….the Mustang was looking good for awhile there!

I think the side looks good. But I think the design overall is going back to the 90/00 style, which personally I think looks worse than the 70’s.
