2010 370Z vs. 2010 Mustang GT: Which Would You Choose?

I’d take the 370Z. It’s smaller, faster, better looking, and damn that engine sounds good.

I’ve had a nissan and for those telling me about reliability problems… Are you serious? I’ve had one for years now and it still works great.

Yes the mustang is fast but it’s underpowered. It’s heavy, and the suspension sucks. Good for straight away drag racers.

The 370 is pretty identical to the G37 and lighter. It has a V-6 and still has more horse power. And not all people with Jap cars rice them out. =|

Btw to all the people that are saying AMERICA STANG. You guys know the 370z was designed here in America right? They even have a plant here in America that makes them. So essentially they are kinda an American car.

Now if you are into straight away drag style racing then go with the stang. If you like to turn and other stuff that requires a better suspension go with the 370Z.

I have driven both 350z and Stang. Stang is faster but cant turn as well as the Z. Plus the Z is a lot more fun to drive.

performance per dollar = mustang ftw. I am a firm supporter of Japanese cars and I have owned only Toyota’s and Honda’s. However, Nissan’s are unreliable, more so than Fords, look it up, it is a statistical fact. Most of the time japanese cars have a huge edge in reliability but not in this case.

Honestly, I would choose the Mustang. And if any of you nay sayers would actually sit down in one and give it a chance instead of believing everthing you hear you would find out that they are extremely comfortable and reliable rides.
Even if you do go with the 370, you’re just going to put some fart can on it and some stickers and ruin it anyway. Mustang has the most beautiful sound.

I’d take the Mustang, but I’d do a bunch of mods to make it lighter and a few things to squeeze more power out of it. I’d prolly lose the back seat altogether, upgrade the suspension parts for better handling, upgrade the intake and exhaust for more power and torque, and I’d wanna have a moonroof. But I definitely take the Stang

370Z for sure. The Mustang is ok in a straight line and will never take a corner like the Z. The driver actually sits “in” the seat of a Z not “on” it like some sofa. Since when are sports cars comfortable on long roads or ride comfortably? If you want a smooth ride get a sedan. I like the Ford GT500 but the fact that it doesn’t actually have 500hp (more like 447hp) is just wrong. I dont’t like being lied to plus its been proven on dyno tests so the 370Z all the way

why does everyone keep insisting that the mustang has a good suspension? or that it will be faster? because as far as I’ve seen, the G37, (which is basically a heavy/luxury version of the new Z) will do 0-60 in about 5.3 seconds, and top out at about 170mph, and the Z, which will probably weigh around 300lbs less….
it’s no contest, and the fact that the mustang is much less sophisticated. and I agree with the guy on here that said ford probably won’t see the day that a new mustang will be able to crawl itself to the showroom. period.

I would go with the mustang, though the 370z is probably a better car, I think the front end looks kinda goofy. plus the new mustang is going to get the 5.0 engine back and will pack way more horsepower then the 370z. Id have to say the Nissan 370Z. Mainly for two reasons. One there really isn’t much change in the appearance, and two because Ford probably wont be around long enough to release a 2010 version. Which I hope it doesn’t come to that.

I used to work at a Nissan dealership, and I didn’t like the 350Z at all. So unless they’ve made the 370Z ten times better than the 350, I’ll take the Mustang. Even if the Mustang isn’t as fast, it’s a hell of a lot more fun, just my honest opinion.

We’ll till recently Nissan’s weren’t that reliable, Older nissan’s have tons of problems, the 2.5L engine had tons of problems just ask any SE-R of Altima Owner from around 2000-2004. They only recently fixed most of the problems and even then they just bandaged them up. Ford actually has the best reliability of all Domestic Cars and there products show it, they are on par with all Japanese Auto-makers. just look up recent JDM power and Association. its not fair to judge a car just by its make. Ford is getting much better and the Mustang is pretty Reliable

if the nissan is faster than the old one, it is the better chioce. the old one is over rated. it is pretty slow to be a sports car. same with the mustang. the 01 models are way faster. I would take an 01 mustang or a 96 300zx. but the new nissan looks better

Even if I seriously consider buying american since the recession started (otherwise i usually sticked to import, be it japanese or german), i’ll still have to go for the 370Z.
Nissan got even closer to the classic 240Z with this design, but I seriously think that if they recreate a lightweight rwd sports car (silvia/240sx) it will be closer to the original Z…

Well pretty much all either of these cars are is same models with a couple of different body panels, the 370 got a beefier engine and a little lighter while the Mustang pretty much stayed the same and is just tring to stick with the compation which isnt the 370Z but the new challenger and camaro, but to answer the question I would still go with the MUSTANG, I never liked the 350Z and the 370 looks almost exactly the same so im staying american!!!

the 370Z looks like they mixed the Classic 240Z with a modern 350Z an they tried to make the head lights look like the new Maxima’s with that dipping line, it just looks wrong? but the engine from the G37 is pretty impressive so its sure to be a contender. the mustang on the Other hand looks better than the previous model while still looking the same, and overall weights not increased to bad, but it still has the old drivetrains, Overall the looks of the 370Z turn me off so i’d have to go with the Mustang

It wouldn’t be a hard choice if Nissan made the Z right however if someone where to give me to sets of keys and make me choose 370z all the way. The only thing a mustang can do great in is a straight line thats why u see them allover the dragsrtip.

So imma start off with the 370, i like the body, but for some reason, i still like the 350z better, probably because they just took the headlights from a Maxima, and slapped them on the 370. But also, Nissan still hasent made a Z that is better than the original 240z, in my opinion.

and now with the mustang, I kinda dig it, correct me if im wrong, but didnt JALOPNIK guess what the headlights and tailights were gonna look like a few months ago? and it seems they were right. So the new designs on the Mustang didnt really suprise me.

now for the tough part, chooosing one.
Id have to go with the Mustang, only because the i love customizing cars, and i have a feeling that its gonna take more work to make that 370 look awesome that it would to make the Mustang look awesome. I know its heavy all, but some Carbon Fiber and Aluminum should solve that

I choose the 370z. Its more sportier in my opinion and would really stand out in a crowd. The mustang has its key points but Nissan is going for gold with this one the interior is fantastic and the gauges are awesome

I think the Mustang looks better, but I’m more impressed with the 370Z’s handling and performance capabilities. Time to update that tired old 4.6L V8 in the Stang. Unfortunately, 370Z wins!

I just have to say that I think that the 370Z is one of the ugliest cars. I was a huge fan of the 350Z but this new one is gross. The front headlights looks like it has herpes, just like the Maxima. I’m not a big fan of the mustang from before but I’m all for it. Sorry to have to put it that way and it’s just my opinion.

ill be the first to admit, not crazy about the new styling for the Z, but all other things considered, its a lot more car for slightly more money. I still cant believe that ford is offering the mustang with a live rear axle – the car would be SO much better with an independent rear.

I’m leaning to the mustang. It reminds me of the 1999 mustangs. I’m not sure. I don’t know if the mustang will grow on me or not. I’m not a huge z fan, but I like it. I think the z is gonna win on this one, and I’m a ford lover all the way.
